Loved "I'm ruthless with my fabrics"!!! I'm the same way, buy all clothing from thrift for wearing and crafting - no time for "wishy washy" clothes. Trying to find project ideas for all the great leather I find and came across your channel. I just recently watched the video about getting fabric from wool clothing from Goodwill. I have been doing this for 20 years and have accumulated quite a bit of wool fabric I plan to use for piecing wool quilts. My question is how to store the piecing efficiently considering possible moth damage when out of season. I made cedar sachets for the larger yardage but am concerned about the hand size pieces. Do you have any recommendations for organizing and storing about 20 different plaids and tartans in addition to solid color wool? Once I've made a blanket quilt I store them in a plastic bin with a cedar sachet and wonder if this is a good idea.

I don't think I have any videos on what I do with the wool. I tend to cut it into various sizes to use in quilt projects. I like to use the circle and square dies from AccuQuilt and cut them on my GO! cutter. Maybe an idea for another video?

how do I prepare my wool squares for blanket attaching?

I like to gently wash the fabric first - put it in a lingerie bag and wash on cold gentle cycle in the washer or hand wash and then cut them out to use in your quilt.

You don't wash these used items before disassembling them? Please DO! My niece is a manager at a GoodWill store; one day she told me how much dirt and insects are left in the bottom of their donation bins after the clothing is removed for hanging. They find horrible things like feces, urine & "mystery" gunk on clothing and try to throw away all of the contaminated stuff, but there's still weird residue left in pockets, seams & creases... Gross!😵🤢🤮 I still shop there for fabric and clothing to turn into felt, but I ALWAYS use gloves to handle it! I seal items into plastic bags and leave them in the garage for a full week to wait for the lice & scabies mites to die. Then, still using gloves, I wash everything at a laundromat in the hottest water it can take - several times - to kill fleas, bedbugs, roaches & their eggs. Then I dry it thoroughly before I will touch it barehanded or lay it out in my home.🧐 Seriously, wash it first!
