Mylesjmill 2 serums? i make a pad in sylenth and my cpu is crying
@ziggydeath93977 жыл бұрын
I don't understand why some producers will use DAWs on laptops if they are not also DJs. The computer is the most important part of the setup, so it should be maxed out, and be a desktop. I opted for a 8-core 4.4Ghz i7 computer with water-cooling and lots of ram and redundant storage and I have never pushed the CPU past 40% even with many tracks and plugins. (One time I routed the MIDI keyboard back into itself and this caused an infinite loop of MIDI, and that was the only time my CPUs peaked past 40%.) Typically for a project with 12 tracks with lots of plugins, I get between 3% and 8% load.

Ziggy Death a proper setup is totally the goal. At the moment I'm a broke ass college student, but I don't let that stop me. I've scrounged together a decent i7 laptop, some Chinese af monitors, audio interface, and a shitty microphone from guitar center to make my shitty little bedroom studio. Yes I should probably just save my time and money and get the proper equipment.... but i crave producing.
@ziggydeath93977 жыл бұрын
I like to hear that, "I crave producing". The only people that really made it out of all of my friends who were into music and bands were the ones that had the most desire. It didn't matter how much they sucked or what little gear they had, they practiced a lot and breathed music and actually made it. They have toured with big bands, met their idols, etc and are still doing it. Others, whose hearts were not really in it, faded out. It was a necessity for me to upgrade. I had a nice gaming laptop, but Neutron on two tracks was enough to get it to have audio cut outs and clicks/pops.

Little tip for your Buses. Name your Buses in the setting, add your favorite reverb & chorus and save as a template. It will make your life so much better. Hope this helps 👍🏾

I completely sympathise. This was my biggest pet peeve when projects neared completion so I saved up and bought a beast of a machine and it's so liberating to produce without caring about plugin count nor what plugin I use. I now reach for my favourites without a second thought. It's gotten me closer to making better music. One downside to upgrading is the cost vs benefit and it's not that great.

When you said, "That's how you make a living as a music producer" after reading the amount on the letter, I fell out laughing my ass off! Not laughing directly at you, but I've received those kinds of checks from SESAC and Harry Fox Agency in the past so I know how that feels. It made me crack up when you made that face though! LMAO!

Or You can also upgrade your RAM, and only use your computer SDD for necessary stuff only, keep your samples and stuff like on a HDD. Hope it helps!

@@dukeneukem4747Sorry man, I don't know much about abelton. I don't use it. Usally i run any DAW on SSD as it has better read and write speeds than HDD.

it may be pricey, but the ultimate way to avoid this issue is to get a UAD apollo. then you don't have to use nearly as many plugins running on your computer if any. plus you get top notch plugins that really cant be beat at the moment.

Thanks for this video Jon, perfect timing. I was just Looking at buying a new iMac or Laptop today...( though I wouldn't really move my Laptop/not only that I'm not sure what model is best atm.).. on Paypal or their bank finance. But Not sure if getting in debt is wise, atm I'm saving still... Could putting LPX on an external SSD, speed it up, I have a 5400 RPM HDD with this iMac? Was originally bought for art, but I got LPX, & my artwork is still done on canvas. ..Anyway thanks for this video. Just what I needed.

Also can be helpful if you clean up all the dust inside your computer with compressed gas cleaner, and put new thermal paste between the heatsink and the CPU/GPU. You can easily find step by step repair guides how to do it, or I guess you can find a notebook service around your neighborhood who can make it for you.

Hi, I was thinking get to the point but I thought you put stuff across in a entertaining way, so good video.. I’ve heard you can run ether plugins or samples or tracks from a second hard drive and this takes the pressure off your CPU because it’s not looking for everything from the same drive. Have you ever tried that, I was going to but had trouble getting my Daw to find things in different places, why does everything have to be so complicated. If only there was someone somewhere saying this is how it’s done.

There is also another hack many folks aren't aware of, you can use the renice command to increase CPU priority to logic using the command line interface.

Maybe you have an old laptop or desktop laying around that can run your software keyboards, and you can run them back into your main DAW. That'll save your CPU from being taxed and give you some flexibility. If not, get yourself a Mac mini and run them on that. Get your sweetheart to get it for you.
