Hey Hacktuber, There is more than one way to skin a cat. That pin you installed after refilling the lighter will not seal. It will leak over time. I have a better way that does not require poking a hole in it. !) Heat the lighter ( in the sun, in an oven or a hair dryer). This will increase the pressure inside the lighter. Press the on tab to release the pressurized air/gas. 2) Place the lighter in the freezer for a few minutes. This will lower the temperature and pressure inside the lighter. The colder the better. Frozen is best. 3) Place the nozzle of butane (pointing down) on the nozzle of the lighter (pointing up). The lighter resting on a table or other secure surface. May have to use supplied adapter. 4) Simultaneously, press the on tab of the lighter (to open valve) and press downward on butane can to dispense butane. Hold in position (a few seconds) until lighter is refilled. Good Luck and Happy Holidays, Ray

@@geminisabah Yes, Gemini the same spout that the butane comes out of is what you use to refill it. If you skip steps 1-3 you may get a little butane in it. Until the pressure in the lighter equals the pressure in the refill can. At atmospheric pressure and temperature most of the butane will absorb enough heat to flash (evaporate) into gas. By removing the pressure and temperature you will get more liquid butane in the lighter. Until the pressures in the lighter and refill can equalize. Have fun and good luck. Safety first always. You could also just squeeze some super glue around the thumb tac. Not that your method wouldn't work, but you will end up exerting more physical effort than the actual worth of the lighter. Good to know if there are no other options. Also, technically, he did not poke a hole in the lighter. He pushed a small metal bearing out of the pre-existing hole. ⚪️ 🕳

What a great idea! I'd even go one step further an cover the bottom (& push pin) with thin layer of hot glue from a glue gun.... That way it protects any seepage of the lighter fluid & when it needs a refill - just an easy peel of the glue & start all over! 👍😁

Don't automatically assume people are consciously trying to steal your lighter. I've innocently ended up with friends lighters in my pocket and vice versa. It ends with a "hey do you have my lighter" and the rightful owner gets it back.

As a young fellow many years ago, rather than seeing the other still working parks go to total waste, there's a little lighter hack that is a great stand in for a mini firework. Need to carefully remove the wheel, all while not loosing the spring loaded flint which will want to fly away at random directions. Usually those brand still have 3/4 of the original flint not used. I guess unless someone is attempting to light something in windy conditions all the time. But yeah, take the piece of flint and the little spring, stretch the spring out some. Then, wedge the flint into the end so it's held in place. Use your new working lighter to heat the flint red hot, then quickly throw it against an hard surface such as a curb or rock. The glowing flint sparks apart in all directions surly surprising those around who have never seen it done. It goes without saying, only done by adults, and using an elevated caution mentality.

Hi, my bic lighter doesn’t have the tiny metal ball inside, I grabbed another empty one just to be sure : they both have the same kind of valve as shown in the video but on the inside it looks just like plastic with no metall ball whatsoever, so are my bic lighters un-refillable ?

Back in the day you could only buy matches and gas refil lighters nothing like this type of light. Refil back then had a cotton / wool type substance inside you pulled the inside of casing out soaked the cotton / wool put back in casing done.

Pull the metal guard off the top. Pop the wheel out and under is a spring with a flint. Block it with your hand so the flint doesn't go flying. There is always a big piece of flint leftover unlike the cheap see thru lighters that always have a tiny shaving of flint left. I pull them out and keep them for my Zippo lighter

I've done this before, unfortunately the Gas sometimes still escapes after some time. What helps is if you dip the pin 📌 in superglue before pushing it in 😁

Unfortunately, this temporary innovation only works for like 2 or 3 refills. Maybe 4 if your kucky. Then the flame gets smaller and smaller until it doesn't spark anymore. But it's worth it. I still recommend it if you're broke and if you can find butane for 2 or 3 bucks.

I’ve learned that it’s better to put the lighter in the freezer for an hour before, then you fill it twice to let the gas push out any oxygen and stop boiling. Then you cover the hole with a 3/4” long penny nail.

@@TonyK-s2g yeah but another tuber replied to me saying it don't work even though 10 years ago it did before I upgraded to custom built zippos. It was slow as you would expect and I ended up epoxying a proper valve in the bottom. After about 3 years of being a stoner lighter, the wheel had worn out and I decided to upgrade to custom built zippos. I was going to buy a new bic tomorrow to test on. You will also need to push the button down for the butane to flow through and maybe an adaptor from can lid. I refill my zippos from the bayonet type butane can (220g) with an adaptor from the lid of the smaller butane cans.
