Hello hello mom and dad meet world-kinda viewers. We are refilling the AC refrigerant on my daughter's 2007 Honda Fit. If you are not comfortable doing this whatsoever, please do not do so and take your car to a mechanic or dealership and have this done. The car does take R134a refrigerant that we picked up from the local auto parts store. We got the one with a gauge. There a pressure gauge and on ambient outside air temp dial. Set the temp to your temp outside to ensure the right amount of refrigerant being put into your car. Shake can well before and during start to ensure everything is mixed well. Also make sure the car is fully warmed up with AC turned on, blower on max, and temp on max cold too. We typically run out of refrigerant in the summer and want that cold air. But make sure you have enough AC for the winter so your defrost works well too.
Hope this helps you out and thanks for watching!

Great video! 😃Clear instructions and more ppl need to know that winter tip!! I deal with Canadian winters and a lot of people don't know that when you're defrosting your windows you want the AC ON to remove moisture in the air which is causing the fog!

You said the car was on the entire time, but do you keep the air conditioner on as well while filling?

Helpful video! How many ounces did you use? I bought a 6 ounce can, maybe I need more.

It's not an easy answer as you use a gauge and fill as needed. Mine wasn’t completely empty so it was less than the can. I would buy the large bottle not the small one. Sorry I’m not more specific.

Yes mine was like a 24 or 32 oz can. I have used the 6/12 OZ cans in the past and been unsuccessful. The reason I did the video was to show how to make it successful. The gauge and trigger are very helpful also. Some people do it old school but not me.

@@momanddadmeetworld OK. I guess the gauge would indicate if there is not enough refrigerant. Just means cool air rather than cold air? Or simply won't work if not enough of the refrigerant?

@@RedMango55 yes it would mean cooler versus cold air. But it could also burn out your AC pump because there would not be enough lubricant in the lines. Most ACs have a lubricant that help the pump run. It’s not good to run your AC without enough refrigerant for a long period of time. If the gauge indicates that you’re low, I would just add more refrigerant. You wanna be careful not to overfill it though because like with anything you can blow out the lines if you over pressurize it, which is why I encourage people to use the gauge to make sure that you get the system right. Hope this helps.

I dont know for certain but it sounds like you may have an over filled/over pressureized the system. Does it blow cold? Does it make any weird noises when is running?

How long do I squeeze the can for? Do I do it until the can is empty? Or until I feel cold air through the AC?

Hi Tracy, Great Question. I squeezed the trigger for about 2-3 seconds at a time while rotating the bottle. This allows you to check the pressure gauge several times. The pressure gauge will tell you when you need to stop adding refrigerant.
