There is a button at the top right which compares the details on the portal with the PAN details and the Aadhar (if applicable), If the PAN details are not same as the Income Tax portal details how do we update the PAN card details?

I am a German citizen and having an OCI card. I currently live in Switzerland. My PAN card was issued 15 years back in India and at that time I was resident of India and an Indian citizen. Case: I buy mutual funds from my NRE account in India through SIP (as NRE repratiable) This month (July 2023) my Mutual funds transactions were declined. So i asked Mutual funds AMCs and they said that my PAN is not connected to Aadhar and hence transactions are rejected. As you know OCI citizens are not mandated to have Aadhar. I did register my PAN as non resident yesterday on the e-filling portal (Income tax). While comparing PAN data and new data entered on E-Portal, I see that my address in PAN card is still showing Indian address. Any help how this could be corrected? I see 49AA form? Is it possible to do it online (from Switzerland)?

I did update the profile on the IT portal last year. However on 1st July 2023, my PAN has been disabled. For my wife, we even got the address changed to where we live in Europe. To be clear, the adress in the profile amd PAN database is outside India. Even then her PAN is disabled. The status of the profile for of us both is Non-resident. Any ideas how to fix the mess? This is bit difficult to explain… you can do one thing, you can try to make tax payment through NSDL portal and enter PAN in online challan, it would navigate to next page and show your name (a portion would be masked) and invariably you would come to know the flow of name with spelling as reflected in database of PAN and the same may be taken into consideration for filling… no need to pay taxes, just close the browser once name is auto-populated

Hello, Great information!. I am US citizen, I have both Pan and Aadhar card, I have agricultural land inherited from parents after I became US citizen, I applied for Aadhar in the process of inheritance since Aadhar was must to inherit agricultural land in my state. Should I register my Pan in income tax website, and link pan and Aadhar card? bit confused since I am not Indian citizen and Aadhar card for non-India citizens is bit grey area. Wondering if I am inviting trouble registering pan card and linking Aadhar card. I am not planning to sell the land anytime soon, and I have no other income in India, so should be ok even if my pan get's inoperable and I can fix it when I plan to sell the land. Your advise here is greatly appreciated! I received my pan card in year 2000 when I was working in India and it is still active, I migrated to US in 2001. There are lot of possibilities for this… 1) name as mentioned on face of PAN Card, may not be the full name as there is an option in PAN application to give display name and full name separately…. 2) the first name, middle name & surname may have been interchanged… 3) spelling mistakes etc… try different combinations

Thank you for the excellent service for people like me. I am an OCI foreign citizen with a PAN card that was obtained more than 20 years ago. I just got to update the NRI status on the e-filing portal and while doing so I noticed that my name on the PAN card is incorrect (First name & Surname have been interchanged). I'm trying to correct this as well as to update the address to my current one. However, when the submission is being made at a PAN center, there is an error asking me to link the PAN card with an Aadhar card. However, I do not have an Aadhar card. Additionally , I encounter a message stating that the PAN card is of an Indian national. I am looking on help to get the nationality on my PAN card changes as that would help in not requiring to link the PAN card to an Aadhar card. Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated,

Apply for PAN correction in Form 49AA which is applicable for OCI’s. It doesn’t require Aadhar…

@@manjorig9625 Your PAN number has information that indicates if you are an Indian Citizen or not. That has to be changed to reflect your current citizenship. That will be done by your Income Tax AO (Assessment Officer). You also need to update information relating to your citizenship and contact information on the IT e-filing portal. There is a requirement to link your Aadhar and Pan Card. However, when you change the citizenship status on your PAN card, it will no longer be required as foreign citizens are exempt from having to link the two cards. Hope this helps.

And they have Bank Saving account in india and the sell propety like residence india with aadharcard even they are NRI. they told It is not easy to sell or buy in india when you change your NRI status. With due respect I wish to state that I do not understand the need for an OTP to file your IT return. Generally OTP is required for payment confirmation only. Its peculiar to INDIA only. To NRIs like me completing the IT return is like crazy (I do have some accounting knowledge). I don't know you call this backward thinking or progressive. Filing IT returns in other countries is so very simple. May be the Indian income tax officers should make a study tour of neighboring countries. We pay tax here thus this is from experience.
