Loved that you answer questions from your devoted fans! I have one I've never seen answered, by anyone, and I'm begging you to help! I promised my niece a sweater, and so far I haven't been able to deliver, because it requires creating an edge border and attaching it to an existing piece as you go. Every time you knit over to the main piece, you knit the last stitch together with a stitch you pick up from the main piece, but the place where it joins has been coming out ugly! The pattern picture looks beautiful, and I don't want to let my niece down. This is called for in many patterns, and I'm sure it would help a lot of people.

Because that slip stitch is really the exact same stitch as a standard knit cast-off (k1, pso), it occurs to me this would answer the question I see a lot on knitting sites - "How can I match my caston and castoff?" If you do this slip stitch on your caston edge, it will then match a standard castoff at the other end.

Yes. The regular crocheted chain, which is the slip stitch unattached to anything, is used sometimes as the basis for a provisional cast on. You can also pick up stitches in the "back" of the chain and make an edge as you describe. It's not very flexible and sometimes that's just right. There are other matching cast-on/bind-off combinations. Did you see my video on the long-tail bind off? Long-Tail Bind Off I also have a tubular cast on/tubular bind off pair in K1P1 rib.

I will try to remember this. I especially like my ends to look the same on a scarf and so I wonder about how to bind off. I could match it better if I did this.

Thanks a lot cheryl for the amazing video. I was so pleasantly surprised to hear my name in the video.. so thanks for that as well :) Your video was really helpful and im gonna do the crochet from the back (cuz it prevents from cupping), andi really liked that you used two different colours in the work. Im gonna do that as well. it'll make my work look prettier. I'll post the picture of the finished sweater on your facebook page once im done, but i think that might take some time considering that im a beginner n a slow knitter as well :p take care

You are so welcome Priyamvada (did I say your name right?) Good for you for taking on a lace cardigan as a beginning knitter!! It's a pretty easy lace pattern but that's still ambitious. Thanks for asking the question that led to a good program.

Lovely I wonder if this would look nice on the edging of a lace shawl I am doing at the moment.

It might. That's how I designed it in the first place. A viewer was concerned that the edge of her shawl was not strong enough.

I really like your videos and watch them often. I don't have a question - just a comment! I loved your "Ham" story and may know where you heard (read) it. It's a wonderful book that's very popular right now! Great that you used it. I find lots of places to use it in everyday life! Keep up the good knitting and videos.
