Load bearing seams are always stressful. Will the customer stuff the bag full of bricks and rip it apart? Will it rip when I flip it right side out? Will these yoga pants straight up rip in the booty (probably, yes)? This is a super quick tip that took me 10 minutes to describe. Enjoy!

Bahahaha BRICKS?!! I have an Indian friend who brought back a sari and coordinating top. The top had a few rows of extra stitches about a 1/4th inch like that so that they could be let out if you needed a larger size. Very convenient! Good to know your technique has many applications for workplace yoga pants situations!

I love your personality!! Whatever sign you are, I think it's my favorite. LOL. I've been doing the double stitching for some time now. I flip mine over so the bobbin thread is up when I do my second line. It probably doesn't matter but it makes me feel like I'm doing something good! Thank you for the video! You brightened my morning!

Thanks! I do the videos in spurts, but I work full-time as a software engineer. I don't really have a lot of free time unless I cancel Twitch streams to make the videos! I need to make more in-depth tutorials with patterns. Those just take a lot of planning and filming on a weekend.

@@fiercekittenz Thank you for the videos you have made for others! Yes, I recall seeing you bringing up when you were going to work for the large corporation, and when I did join one of your twitches" I appreciated you stating as a gay man I was "in a safe place." Made me smile even though I wasn't worried about that since im comfortable with my sexuality. Hope you have liked your work there, and thanks again for the videos no matter how often you get to them. Take care!

I do this all the time; it really does help. Funny story though, the fabric company I work with got a message from a lady who did a rip test, I'm like who does that? lol She ripped the corner but couldn't get farther than that but I'm still just like why? lol If it had a seam and ripped I could understand but just right out rip vinyl, that takes some muscle lol

I just had bag handle fail. I made a few bags and gave them to people with the caveat they need to check in and contact me how its going. Well, she just contacted me saying a handle ripped out. I had triple stitched the entire strap. I sewed across once, folded the handle on itself and stitched two more times....and it ripped. I'm unsure exactly how or what let go. I am collecting the bag tomorrow and will find out. I'm thinking it might be the thread I used. 😢

Heavy duty thread at least? Like a domestic machine can take Upholstery threads, but if you’re industrial, you should be using Tex 70 or higher. Was it a homemade strap or webbing?
@JustChreesha
@JustChreesha Жыл бұрын
@@fiercekittenz it was a webbing strap (cotton) and I asked her to send me pics because I'm unsure what exactly failed as yet. Not having seen it yet I'm going out on a limb amd say it was the thread I used. I wasn't sure what my domestic machine could handle, so thank you for that invaluable information, I will be using upholstery thread going forward! I may also use rivets on her bag handles as well as triple stitch with upholstery thread, lol (she did say she probably over loaded it, oy!) Thank you for taking the time to respond💜

Does “stitch in the ditch” help? Or is that in the wrong place, to be useful? Do you have thoughts about topstitching (for strength)?
@fiercekittenz
@fiercekittenz Жыл бұрын
For bags I wouldn't do any kind of stitching in the ditch ESPECIALLY if it's vinyl. You're just going to perforate even worse there. I always topstitch not just for decoration, but for the securing of seam allowances on the wrong side of the constructed item.
