I always coach people to follow the golden rule. I would want someone to just be honest with me. Ghosting not required. The phrase I recommend most often is, “It was great/ wonderful/lovely to meet you, I don’t think this is going to be the romantic connection we were hoping for, but I wish you…“ This could be ‘a great summer’ or ‘a happy holiday season’ or whatever would be pertinent and reasonable based on when this lack of a future is being shared with the other person. Honesty is powerful, And when shared with kindness and respect… the best policy!

I just DID THIS yesterday (Friday ) !!! After 4 months of dating and calls and long talks (no sex), it dawned on me, that while this guy was very compatible & we enjoyed each others company, he was definitely prioritizing ME, there was no "WOW" ..... so I used the "no chemistry" that I learned in Manifest your Man from Mat. We are on good terms, and he has invited me to call him, if I change my mind.....BUT, as I suspected, he still tried to turn the no chemistry into 1) me lacking experience with strong men (incorrect), 2) me not having sexually experienced a virile man such as himself (LOL wrong again) 3) differences in raising, I am from the South & he is West coast (wrong) and FINALLY he says "I am not used to women not being into me !! Through all of these objections, I just kept saying, "it's simply a matter of chemistry" and he finally acknowledged.

I just came out of a horrible 15 month relationship and this is SO relevant. Even though the guy was pretty unkind to me for the final 6 months, I see now my part in it: I *knew* right from the start that we weren't a good match, but he was so keen and so certain that we were a perfect match, that I just went along with it -- because it "wasn't so bad." Over time he couldn't help but sense my feelings, and it made him bitter and resentful. And then, of course, it *was* "so bad." He chose to react the way he did, his behaviour is on him and it was pretty bad. I'm not taking responsibility for his actions. But the lesson I've learned is to cut your losses early if there's no chemistry or if your gut is saying "this isn't the one."

To leave a man for a right woman for him is a great approach. To look for chemistry on early stages of dating might be a recipe for disaster. To talk about the lack of chemistry might evoke the trauma of rejection/abandonment, like I'm not lovable. I would say that you are a good man, just we are different. You need to find a right woman for you, and I'm not that woman.
@jeannetondryk43952 жыл бұрын
Right on, Mat! I may go on 2 dates but when he asks/calls for the 3rd, I tell him, "I don't have the passion for you that I am looking for. Let's continue to be friends." I usually find something that would make a partner a better fit like, likes cycling more than I do, likes to hike, can play golf, etc.

This is so true! Its takes two to tango, so to speak. I also belive its either mutual attraction, or it isnt any attraction. Only one person being interested (often the guy) is just not aware of what he actually wants and what he actually feels. I have met many of those guys myself. They belive they met the women of their life (me) but they havnt because I dont feel the same for them. The attraction is always mutual, or the attraction doesnt exist.
@camuyana2 жыл бұрын
I removed myself from social media because there are guys who have been interested in me and no matter how gently I've told them that I am not they insist. So I am letting time go by so they can move on. I am very interested in one who is on that particular platform (however I'm not putting my life on hold for him) but cannot move forward because I am not yet divorced but more so because I think he is still not available. I don't know if we would be compatible but I would like to see if we were. Never break the heart of a person who is interested in you because you're not interested. Always treat people with love, dignity and compassion. It is always an honor to have somebody be interested in you and love you.

Rejection is a alert, it's kinda telling you this person not right for you. Or he deserves, someone he actually has connects with. So it's kinda like a lesson. Leading a person on is crazy. You're making it seem, as if you wanna be with that person. And you're playing with his feelings. It's kinda sad. My best words are: " I just don't feel any chemistry between us, but I hope all goes great for you in life. " or " We don't seem to connect with each other but we can still be friends if you want to " so about the same as you said..!!

What words do I find are best when letting a man know I do not find chemistry with him. It is not the words. It is both body language and eye contact. Honesty begins with how we present ourselves to others. A genuine love in my heart conveys acceptance of the other person. Followed by sincere language. Jesus used this approach constantly. He is a master of loving and encouraging others. Come from a place of acceptance and love. Let people know where you stand immediately as you deal with them.

It actually strengthen my inner voice and self-confidence because I knew he wasn’t my type and I also felt that we had no chemistry but I was in a way forcing it on my own self because I felt desperate I was in my late 20’s, family pressure and he was a family set up so I felt pressured to give him a chance🤨! I don't think that was egotistical of you to think about what if you reject her. Granted, we do have those thoughts on how we're going to react, it's actually assuming to make the assumption that other people are going to reject us because if we want to make that assumption we should make the assumption that they won't reject us, a person needs to be open to the fact that it's going to be whatever it is. Just let it happen, enjoy yourself and their company and see where it goes.

Mat, this couldn’t have come at a better time! Note that I usually just state early ‘We are not a good match and I wish you luck in your search’. This is very fitting and works for me if done immediately or shortly after meet 1. But today I’m confused as I just had date 2 with this fellow I met online. Although there are a ton of things that we have in common and there are some fun and great conversation so far…I just don’t know when the right time is to tell him that I’m not attracted and don’t feel the chemistry that I need to carry on a romantic relationship? I’m trying very hard here to make sure and not judge too soon as I don’t want to miss out on a great opportunity with a great guy. So my question might be how long do you wait before telling somebody that you are not attracted to them and you don’t feel the chemistry needed for a long term relationship? Other videos you have posted state that we should give it some time and not jump to conclusions and it can take some time for attraction to grow. I am looking for my forever person and because I’ve been looking for this for a couple years I tend to hold on longer lately than I think I should to see if something pops up that I missed and this truly is the man for me 🤷♀️. As always….good solid advice Mat for this scenario. I always want to be polite and I’ve truly never thought about how I could be doing us both a great favour. ❤️ love this

What about this guy? 17 (!) years ago we had a couple of dates. I thought I had feelings for him and told him that, he recipricated. Then we kissed once - and in this moment I knew he wasn't for me, no chemistry. I told him my feelings for him weren't strong enough. He wanted to stay friends, so he drunk called me angry a couple of times and we exchanged emails, that's it. I over and over rejected him, then the emails and texts were only on birthdays, that's it. He never forgot mine. Then it faded out, I didn't reply anymore and I thought he finally got the message and moved on. Last year he emailed me saying this can't be it and that he is still wondering what could have been. I ignored his message, as I didn't know what else to say anymore. Nothing could have been! He never had a girlfriend in his life and is now in his forties ... I know he is super shy and has no confidence ... but for years I hoped he would finally find someone who's right for him. And let me go.

@S T, I have one of those too, not exactly the same situation. I refuse to allow someone to manipulate me into feeling guilty because they do not want to take responsibility for their own life. Happiness is an inside job. You are not now nor have you ever been responsible for his happiness. I have not blocked the person form contacting me but I did make it clear that our lives worked out as they should have. I told him that I had a beautiful marriage to a wonderful man and I can’t imagine that anyone would have been a better fit for me. I was sorry he had not found the same thing in his life but hopefully he would. I have decided that if he attempts the same thing again, I will have to block him from contacting me. Chemistry and compatibility isn't our problem. He just has issues with us being distant relatives, so when we are physically near each other there's magic, but when we are apart, OUR COMMUNICATION IS AWFUL!!! I don't even dream about the guy in any other way than in a boring setting. I didn't want to reject him because he was very caring and I wanted to honor that, but now that I had a long rest, I don't feel like having him in my life. That's today, I'm sure than when anxiety comes back in general, I'm going to want to be in contact with him. Then, it was all like a drug, even the very story-like dreamy special moments. That love made me ignore a bunch of things that I would not stand if I had pre-mediated the situation. I haven't seen him in two months. The last time he wrote to me was a week ago and he was a bit funny, but sarcastically not loving or romantic. He can be jerk. My relationship is like 90 percent attraction and compatibility, but only 10 percent intimacy and communication. Plus, by not dating other men, the ghostly lover issue was hurting the relationship.

My question is, how do you gently reject a guy that you *are* attracted to but you know for many reasons he has proved that romantically, we both have different goals. He is a handsome Adonis who is absolutely amazing! But he isn’t the “committed” type. I suspect that he “collects” women for his own pleasure. That “notch in the belt” or “feather in the hat” perspective is what I suspect of him. I could take a “roll in the hay” with him but that’s not how I approach a relationship. I truly love the idea of a loving and committed relationship and if he cannot give more than a “roll in the hay,” as attracted as I am to him, I just can’t bring myself to sleep with him just because he’s so amazing and gorgeous! Ruminate on that!

Tell him you don't share similar values. Which you believe is a basic foundation for a good and lasting relationship. If he really is someone who collects women, he won't bat an eye. His pride might get hurt and feel challenge to win you over but in the end, you're just game to win. You don't seem to be the type to want that. So don't worry about trying to soften the blow for him coz he couldn't care less for real

If you don't want to date him, you should not give him false hope. If you must end that friendship, then do it. What you don't want to do is enable him. At the end of the day, he is not going to act like a friend. The more you let him stay in your life, he will just keep showing entitlement. If he sense you cannot detach, this is exactly how you will enable him to put peer pressure in you. You got to be brave enough to break up. You will only get stuck staying yes the more you keep being a pleaser. Got to understand that you don't even see him as your fiance so that means you have to have to guts to end the friendship. Don't let his sad puppy face control you.

I could share the story. Recently I went to a date. For the begining knew that guy is not my type, no chemistry, but becouse of being polite and not willing hurt him went to take a cofee. And in the end he says there was no chemistry, we wont meet again. And i felt that my ego hurted. I couls have been rejected him in the firat minutes of meeting and feel way more better. But i gave him a pover to say it first. How to deal with hurted ego? Seem not fair...

What if you thought: Maybe he felt my/your rejection & that turned him off, & then he unknowingly said what was in my/your mind. . . Thus you graciously allowed him to do the dirty deed. Remember, thankfully, you still dodged a nasty relationship!

I would also ho for a coffee like you did, because he is human being, not just an object like a dress, which I try, for me. I would enjoy communication with him just learning who he is not looking for chemistry. After he said that there was no chemistry, I would have said that I felt the same and smile, it is good that we were on the same page :)

Thank you for comments. Just that rejection was very unexpected. He got back from wc and said it, expecting me to be willing continue conversation and to go from restourant together. So I got confused and just said that he could better say it to me when saying goodbye, in the end. It was just not smooth. So even i didnt liked the guy, it hurted me somehow.

@@monab.3387 I would tell myself, that those who do not see my worth are undeserving of it. And that his suspected of being a wrong type, & actual rudeness, is proof enough of him being a bad match. Be proud of your intuition being right. Yes it stung a little, but in the end it's his loss. & really/truely your escape is more important than a bruised ego. Now you are more seasoned, & maybe next time you won't waste your time with a no-go-Joe...

@@monab.3387 Guys often reject first when they feel they are not liked by a woman. That is a sign of emotional immaturity. If you shift your perspective from "looking for somebody, who will give me love" to "I can give my love to myself through the acceptance of my feelings and understanding my traumas, watching them, being compassionate to myself", you will not be hurt so easily anymore. The only person, who will be with you your whole life is you. Be your gentle loving friend. Spoil yourself, be caring for yourself. I would not call it ego, I would call it a hurting inner child, and would act from that perspective.

Worst advise ever. Tell someone after seeing them for a while that there is no chemistry... that destroys their confidence and character for years to come. Thanks but no thanks

By rejecting the wrong person we keep our heart open and available for the right one. Although we may not be compatible with everyone for someone out there we are each other's perfect match. 💛🫶☯️❤️
