This is awesome! I have the same dock and I visioned the exact same hack! I already bought the amplifier and made the battery pack. Is the quality and volume level the same? Is it a 3S2P Battery (so 12V)? What's the battery life until the charge? Thanks for this awesome video!!!! Multumesc mult!

Hello and thank you :). The speaker is very loud, the quality of the sound is good, I bought mine with broken amplifier and I canot compare the sound. I have a new Soundlink Revolve and sometimes I think the Sounddock soud is better. Yes the battery is 3s2p and it plays for days, the amplifier has very low consumption on moderate volume. Try to use a BMS with balancing function, is better. Seal all holes with silicone, even the charging plug, any air leak will make it sound bad. Good luck with the project!

The sound of the sounddock is very deep! I'm thinking of placing a 6S1P Battery Pack with 18650 but I'm little concerned about the battery life. I have a 3S BMS already but in this case I will use a balance charger. What do you think?

The bass may not be great at very hi volume but is ok, it also depends on the quality of the song, every amplifier sound different. The amplifier I use need 12v and I used 12v battery pack(3s2p). The battery pack I made has a total 3000mah, you can find cells with 2500mah each. Is the best to use smart charger.

If your dock and amplifier are still working, I'd suggest trying to find a bluetooth adapter that fits the iPod dock as it will allow you to keep the original Bose tuning - it applies some bass boost and loudness contouring to have the little drivers sound their best. But if you want to make it battery powered then try to find an amplifier board with at least bass and treble control :)

It is workimg and i use it, i added some good tweeters and crossovers, now the sound is a lot better.

This is great, I have one of this speaker and the power adapter start malfunctioning. Don’t know where the fault is from. I’m considering a hack like this but don’t know where to start from because I don’t understand the language in the video. Which amplifier did you used?

Excellent job! There is a model of remote control amplifier TPA3116. Is it possible to do with this model? Did you use 2 plugs, one for battery charging only and one for plugging in to a power source? I am not an expert, would it be possible to provide a more detailed scheme? Great project! Thank you!
@ImpactDIY
@ImpactDIY 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you :) ! The TPA3116 has 2x50watts and it may be too powerful for the bose speakers. The one I used has 2x25 watts. I used 2 plugs because I wanted to have two ways to charge the battery because the BMS doesn't have a balancing function. The one on the bottom is for charging with a smart charger like imax b6.

Thank for your video (very well done !). But the sound is far from the original Bose sound. Do you think there is a way to make some corrections to the sound (like with a DSP) ?

I think that maybe a good crossover and 2 small tweeters will improve the sound a lot, i will test this and make a video :).

Wow, I will try that. But is it necessary to put those yellow buttons? Would I be able to skip songs or increase/decrease volume through my phone? Nice job, keep it up
@ImpactDIY
@ImpactDIY 4 жыл бұрын
You can change song, increase/decrease volume but sometimes you will need the buttons because some errors may happen. You can only make some holes and use a tool to press the buttons when needed.

Should we use the 18V transformer that came with the Bose to power in to the BMS?
@ImpactDIY
@ImpactDIY 4 жыл бұрын
No, you need a 12,6v power supply/transformer. Using the 18v is very dangerous.

Great video but I don't like how you've increased the speed. Because everything you have walked through is fantastic, but at standard speed would have been easier to follow. I'd rather watch a longer more lengthly video that so as to not miss detail, than skip and miss the details.
