This is also handy for live concert mixing, I can have my laptop in the crowd and listen to what the crowd hears, while my desktop with all it's ADAT racks and Cubase with all my low-latency pluggins is mixing the band - no long fiber optic cables, no 100 foot XLR runs. Just a laptop in the crowd.

This was really awesome. I love my current computer setup but it's in the living room. I want to setup tv's in other parts of the house but I don't want to get more computers to power and control them. Your work software may have some kind of firewall or security protection that won't allow users not on the local network to access it. You may be able to use a VPN to get around it

It depends on the types of games. The better you internet connection on both devices, the smoother the gameplay. I wouldn't recommend it for competitive gaming. It won't heat up the laptop anymore than using other software

It will work by following the process in the video. If you can't get someone to access the laptop to install the software it will be difficult unless you've already set up some way of waking the laptop and accessing it

Thanks for this! Question: is there a way to stop sound from coming through? I play music and movies for a family member with dementia when I'm remote but the sound plays on my computer. Hi Claire. The first issue of there being no lines could be one or two things. Firstly, check that your Detail Level is set to Medium or Fine. This can be found in the bottom toolbar near where you change the scale of a drawing. Secondly, if that doesn't work, check that you have set up your wall type to have layers. It's shown in this lesson how to add a structure to a wall, a finish face, air layer etc so feel free to revisit the lesson if you struggle with this. Walls automatically joining together is a common thing you'll always struggle with in Revit haha. The way to control them is by using the "Wall Joins" tool in the Modify tab under Geometry. Hope that helps

Correct, it does not need to only be influenced by one idea. Your architecture projects will definitely involve a number of different inputs and influences, but having a driving theme or idea will give you clarity when working through the design.

You would have to plug it into the device you want the files on, you can't copy between them. I would often just use Google drive though as the middle man. Plug the USB into the laptop, drop it into Drive and then open it on my PC through my laptop.

I have to turn the desktop on before I go to work. There are methods of starting your computer remotely though, search for "Wake on Lan" (can also be done through teamviewer) or "Switchbot" (literally a robot that presses the on button remotely)

I built my own rig with components housed in a Corsair 1000D tower and a slightly older RTX 3090 GPU, and full SSD or NVME (none of those garbage HDD that should be relegated to the 1980s). My laptop isn't "bad" and handles gaming well (obviously not anywhere close to my desktop)! Great to know that I can use my laptop for high-end gaming without lag (I put together my home network so am real good with WiFi)
