I appreciate this video!! Definitely the best one for what I had to do! Had a bolt broke off in a bolt hole for the starter that I almost didn’t catch and was only just a few days away from dropping my motor in my truck! Did exactly what was shown in your video and it came right out! Thank you again!

Once again a very good video my friend. Please let me add my 2 cents. I've been drilling out broken bolts for over 40 years as an airplane mechanic. My word of advice is when you drill into steel its with low speed and high pressure. When you drill into non ferrous metals as aluminum and copper it is with a high speed and low pressure. That along with some good lubrication will save your drill bits from heating up and dulling out. Also if you drill steel with high speed what happens is you work harden the surface and will make it very difficult to get another bit to drill into the surface. Thanks again and I really like them easy outs your using.

saved this video to my play list and gave a thumbs up! simple, great info and no 6 minute intro to blankly stare at. i just have one critique - i would use left handed drill bits instead. sometimes the snapped off bit will twist in the direction of the drill bit, and it's better for it to come out rather than further into the hole. keep up the good work!

Hey Mike :) I haven't commented for a bit. Been busy coming up with a plan to find and have a custom-built RV for the Mrs. & I. (A van-type RV on a Promaster.) So I've been pretty busy in the past few weeks. Nice job on showing us another way to get broken studs / screws out. I hadn't ever thought about the "setup process" you went thru before you backed it out with the extractor. I can see how that would make it a lot easier. Take care my friend. See you on the flip side. And as always, thanks for sharing your talents with all of us.

If you have a small MIG welder, tack a worn out driver bit to the broken bolt and then wind it out with a drill... the bonus is that the heat shocks/loosens the bond due to expansion/contraction. It works every single time. Give it a try if you don't have these ez outs but you have a wire welder...

Removing helicoils is a very difficult task, but it can be done with a helicoil extraction tool amzn.to/3kB2WGG. This tool has a sharp blade that must be inserted at the top of the helicoil, and while being held in position strike the back of the tool with a hammer. This should wedge the tool into the helicoil and it can then be removed by turning counter clockwise. Thanks for watching and asking matt, have a great day and all the best on your project my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC

Not likely. Assuming you mean a wheel lug stud, most of those are driven or pressed in from the "back" and are removed by driving them out with a punch. (They don't unscrew, so the extractors won't work.) With some designs you can install the new stud by inserting it into the hole and pulling it tightly with a lug nut (with spacer washers if required). Other designs require you to remove the hub to get good enough access to drive or press the new lug.

Hello Robert, this amzn.to/2XXo1Qq is the best you can buy, chances of breaking one is near zero. The pack that you saw in the green package are prone to strip out, we do not use those anymore. Thanks for watching and asking, we appreciate it my friend. mad Mike the hammer SPC

Took it to the mechanic, there was a bolt busted in the Valve cover for one of the spark plug caps and they claimed it would take 2hours. So I had to look this up myself to see.

Drill hole in bolt dead center, put bolt on threaded, then drill thought bolt to get center dril hole . Then remove bolt. Drill hole for extractor. Less chance you will damage threads.

Hey Mike, Thank You, another great video. FYI, I used to use left-handed drill bits for broken bolts / screws, but the left-handed extractors should do just as well if not better. Keep up the good work. Have GREAT day, Neighbor!

Thumbs up for left handed drill bits. Also I would never use a crescent wrench on an extractor, use a tap wrench !! 😊

Always found the parallel spline wurth type of extractors work best as they don't expand the broken bolt as the taper extractors do.

When the check engine light comes on (9 out of 10) is the fuel cap..! Some fuel caps are very expensive and you may have to go to a dealer to solve the problem and order. Takes times.! right..?that cost a lot of money..! But if you change the O Ring you can do it yourself and fix it for pennies..lol..! Also you can make a vid about it..!
