Nice work Gerard, they call them flank sockets over here, same idea thought.... I like to heat the other side of the bolt red hot before using the twist sockets, but understood that's not always possible.... brilliant video as usual mate....

Wow. . I cannot believe I never considered such a thing might exist. I've had to improvise to get a few bolts out in similar situations a handful of times. my go to method has been to figure out how to get a slot into the head then use my impact driver to loosen it. Thank you so much for sharing! I'm going to keep those in mind to purchase at some point in the future. generally I only buy a tool I need at the time, so it'll probably be in a few weeks when I get under my truck to start fixing the stuff hidden under the road-salt rust :P

I’ve the same extraction set they got me out of many a hole👍 if you have any key board warriors bitching over hitting the long extension with a hammer tell them you have another 10 in the tool chest to replace it. Cheers Ger.

Cool sockets. I'd like to get a set... Not being critical here, but I've had better luck using an electric impact to unstick stubborn bolts and nuts. Doing it by hand and using leverage, such as with a breaker bar, I tend to break stuff and get bloody knuckles.

Nice! I have them too; but only the 3/8 drive sockets. I don't use them a lot, but I definitely would prefer the 1/2" ones. Wow, that 9mm and 11mm size are rare when it comes to finding bolt heads that size. I appreciate your video. Thank you sir.

I have a battery tray in my '70 Buick with three smaller bolts, all of which have rounded heads and resemble these in terms of rust - mostly from years of sitting underneath a battery. Acid is a killer for metal, clearly. I just PB Blasted the hell out of them yesterday and will let them soak until next weekend. My friend let me borrow his extractor set (similar to yours) and I'll be having at it next weekend. Did you soak these bolts at all before filming? I didn't see any remnants of lubricant.

Could have been aided further with the addition of a liquid penetrant for the bolt-head...as a pre-step.....no ? The set you show looks nice and seems to be a valuable set to have.

I agree, good value for money on them tools. I tend to only buy one off tools or solid type tools in cheaper brands. Electric, ratchets pliers/vise grips etc.. I pay the premium money for long lasting quality in those types.

Arrrgh I've got one of these but I don't have enough space to swing a hammer at all. It's reaaaaally tight for space in there. It's the top bolt on a 2009 Fusion 1.4 diesel starter motor (same as the fiesta diesels). It's completely rounded and I've been at it for 2 days trying to get it off. Just not enough space to get a good whack on the socket! I can only tap it with a spanner or something slim but it's not enough to force it on

I agree the kits should be complete, I do not like kits that skip in sockets or spanners as there will always be a need at some stage for it (even though full kits are more expensive). Unfortunately this was not an option when I was buying the kit.

Not a cheap fix. Wanted to save some money by doing an oil change my self, and discovered that the bolt had been rounded out. Purchasing the kit would put me right about where it would have costed me all together to just have it taken in, and they'd most likely swap the bolt out for free.
@TheWilferch

But even at "same cost" basis.....you'd be in posession of the tool kit....for any further work like this you may have to do.... forever.

Comment is a little hard to follow but to your main point, I got nothing, to this day I have never aligned with any company or reviewed any given items, I get them emails/messages all the time but I have not done any. I bought that kit when I lived in Oz and my father actually bought the other workshop set. I done the video as they are a useful tool to have when needed. I hope this clears it up for you.
