This video is GREAT............. If you took the engine out which people don't have the time or money to do. I'm currently in the middle of replacing my heater core on my 92 Civic. The best way to do this is to take everything out the dash first...Radio, heater controls, plastic panels, steering wheel(BE CAREFUL not to mess with the clock spring..keep it in same position!!), evaporator, blower motor and disconnect connections......you DO NOT have to take out the fuse box BTW. After that, take the hoses off the heater core(in the engine compartment)....Its much easier to do this from BELOW the car...not from up top because the engine will be in the way(unlike this video). Taking the hoses off will take some time...the dumb clamps will slip from your grip many times...but you'll get it! YES...this is a BIG JOB....but not bigger than a Head Gasket job(which I did last year). Just be patient and you'll do fine... P.S: Be sure to download a Honda manual and follow the directions for taking out each part in the dash....You don't want to forget a connector and start pulling a part out with all your might......then you'll need to fix something else.

Head gaskets on these take an hour max, not counting the time to have it resurfaced. This is probably the most time consuming job on this car.
@debfrazin13444 жыл бұрын
That is a BIG job. I don't think I'd trust anyone but a certified Honda dealer to do that job for me. I know it's way more expensive, but this video is really freaking me out!

A lot of you don’t need to do a complete removal but only need to flush the hoses so you might not have much work to do(I hope) cos mines blowing cold/warm air n not Hot. I’ll come back and let peeps know the outcome of my intended flush...

I did the heater core on a 84 Ford LTD2, and it took 8 hours - pull the dash, pull the dash support, just keep removing things. It was awful.

For removing the heater core hoses there is a tool you can use my dad had one it looks like a screwdriver with a needle tip with a 90 degree bend in it to help remove old hoses from the heater core outlet tubes but if they are very old with cracks and such you might as well just cut off them off and replace them. I used that tool a lot but never as a mechanic. Just side jobs. If you have one or find one be very careful not too rip or tear the hose. Put the tip of the long needle in and point it down at a somewhat sharp angle so when you go around the hose it will less likely to hurt the hose or your pocket book. If you don't you will destroy that hose like it was a m80 in a super thin mailbox. Jajajajaja 😂

does that dash compare to a 94 accord..? I need to do mine

"Hondas are so easy to work on" needs to remove entire dash to get to heater core. I can get one out on a fifty year old American car in less than 20 minutes. That's with stubborn rusted on bolts.
@tubejim1018 жыл бұрын
+linglingjr The heater cores are a pain on the Hondas. But they make up for it in other areas. Fuel filters are much easier, and you don't have to climb under the car :) People often talk me into working on their cars. The whole time, I'm think, "this is such an easy job on my Honda". But every car has that job that you do not want to do.

How fast can u drop a v8 out with out a engine hoist and can u and a buddy pick the motor up and move it around ?
@linglingjr8 жыл бұрын
insane_ivtec I can pull an engine with trans and put it on an engine stand, by myself, in less than an hour. Saying you can pull yours without a cherry picker doesn't mean it's "easier to work on" I really don't see your point.

tubejim101 rhd 97 integra sirG. i want to delete the heater/heatercore to delet the core piping n free up space in my engine bay. i try to figure out what to do with plastic catch can factory thing left of the 2 core piping that sticks out from the firewall.
@tubejim1016 жыл бұрын
The catch can, sounds like your evap system, but not sure. I would leave the heater core in the dash. Just remove the heater core hoses, and cap the ends of the heater core. Your going to have to figure out what to do with those coolant lines. To remove the heater core, you would have to remove your dash.
