Okay, so mine does as you said - easy, hard, easy hard with a noticeable click. However, it does not come off the driver body. When I try to pull it off, it removed the driver from the hub still attached to the cassette. Any ideas?

I made a video on the fact that the cassettes get stuck and I pound them off with a hammer and a spanner placed on the back of the cassette. Here is the video I made || Watch Me Remove A STUCK MOUNTAIN BIKE CASSETTE! || Sram Cassette On XD FreeHub Body - kzbin.info/www/bejne/faLRh4ujoL1lpbs

Position wrench/spanners so you are pulling on it, this is a basic rule of thumb in case it gives way suddenly and your body would go into the work-piece.

Great video. The floor method looks the best. Ideally I'm thinking the adjustable wrench should be the other way round (That said it doesn't look that tight for that to be an issue)

Any idea how to remove a cassette if it went in crooked? It’s a brand new SRAM 11 speed 10-42 on a brand new wheel. I can see its crooked and when i try to loosen it the lock tube just spins. I can make it skip forward with just my hands too so i think i buggered it up bad. The wheel is a brand new XD driver on a Hunt carbon wheel. :(

Cassette and crankset question. I’m installing a sram GX DUB 32t. If the rear wheel is boost ready, do I need to have a boost in the front or the other way? Most new components come now with Boost

Please explain another thin referencing this one. If i wanted to use an 11 speed Shimano 11-46 cassette do I need to replace the freewheel body? OR does the Shimano 11 speed thread onto the freewheel body the same way, i.e. NOT using a cassette lockring?
@BikeTeacher4 жыл бұрын
In my experience the Shimano should thread straight on. No spacer needed. You will need the locking.
@ironman1518.4 жыл бұрын
Thank YOU! I was under the maybe worng impression the SRAM 11 speed cassettes used the SRAM XD type bodies? But the Shimano cassettes will NOT 'slide on and lock onto the XD bodies. One needs to replace the SRMA XD body for a SRAM "splined" hub for Shimano cassettes to slide onto? Am I mistaken?
@BikeTeacher4 жыл бұрын
@@ironman1518. Right, XD hub is only for XD style cassette. Shimano style freehub body is most common. Usually, people need to upgrade to Sram XD freehub to run Sram 12 sp cassettes. It is confusing because I think Sram also has 12 sp regular or standard cassettes. It may be the width that is the difference. Too many changes in too quick of time by these manufactures in my opinion. Hope this helps some.

So people are always saying loose cassette cogs are good because you can replace cogs individually. But, I have never seen single cogs for sale, except an 11 tooth. Do people actually do this? Maybe the town I live in and the two shops here just never see it so they would never carry that kind of inventory.
@BikeTeacher5 жыл бұрын
To my knowledge individual gears are not readily available. There may be some exceptions with some small manufactures where they swap out a gear to increase the climbing ability. E Thirteen, I believe, cassette brakes apart in two for disassembly.

@@BikeTeacher So it's BS. Thanks for reply!

@@newttella1043 Some people may remove one cog size and replace with another get a better gear ratio to their liking. But with the choice of gear ratios these days it is a bit redundant unless you have specific needs. Was more common the old days as some road cyclists would run narrower ratios on flat stages as they did not need bigger ratios and larger cogs as there were no hills. Also different sized cogs were more readily available. These days someone might remove a 15T and replace it with a 50T if they a running a retro fitted 1x11.
