Anyone have this problem? My SRAM GX XG-1150 was impossible to start by hand. I hated to use a wrench to start it, but I did. It was still a pain. And the wheel would not fit back on the bike right! Then I took the wheel off and the cassette off - there were threads of metal that came off the poorly tapped internal of the cassette. I wiped those off, and screwed the cassette back on the wheel. Now the wheel fits on the bike! Crazy problem!

i thought the same before i actually thought about the engineering as to why SRAM is better than shimano. SRAM uses a single body steel cassette on the first 11 gears. If it is Sram eagle, the last gear is aluminum because it is the least used gear. They did this to cut down on weight. If you compare it with the shimano design, each cog can be individually place because they are made of a much lighter material. If you compare 2mm cube of steel to a 2mm cube of aluminum, steel is the better option in terms of wear and tear. Why? Steel has a stiffness matrix than aluminum. aluminum is more ductile. This means, in terms of "gears" you will be replacing the steel cassette much less often.

Hi there Al Vines! if you can answer my question I would appreciate it a lot. I'm assembling a road 11-speed bike in order to have 1x. I bought SRAM XG 1150 10-42T which of course requires XD Drive. Unfortunately, since I have no experience, I ordered rear wheel with R13 hub made by Power Way. Watching your video I see that my R13 hub can't be disassembled the same way as your hub, it needs two allen keys to remove the freehub. My question is -- do you know if I can upgrade my wheel to XD Drive? I don't want to order XD Drive and later find out that it can't be installed. My other option is to sell XG 1150 and get Shimano cassette that will probably fit my R13 hub, but then I'm not sure if Shimano cassette will work nicely with my SRAM front chain ring and with my SRAM chain and my SRAM Rival 1 Type Rear Derailleur. I want to do it the right way unless it will cost me way more. Thanks.

He makes it easy to follow :) I replaced my CX XD wheelset with lighter wheels by using an 11spd XT cassette 42/44T on a shimano freehub to work with my Rival 1 (2 years ago). It was just cheaper to replace the cassette and freehub. Now 12x1 is out and has less jumps between gears. Anyone know if Rival 1 works with Eagle?
