How to remove a stuck clutch with an air chisel hammer like a pro! Sometimes your centrifugal clutch is seized to a point where even a 2 or 3 jaw puller just won't remove it. Air hammers use air compression to work...stay tuned to see how the PROS handle a seized clutch...
In this video, Steve is working on the seized clutch of a plate compactor. You will need an air compressor in order to use an air chisel hammer. The air chisel hammer is a type of percussion tool basically like a mini jackhammer. See where Steve applies the pressure of the hammer so that no damage is caused to the clutch or engine and the clutch just pulls right off...

Tinman saws was also struggling with a clutch. Hammer drill with hammer only will do the same for those without an air chisel / compressor

Back in the 80s, I used to do amateur dentistry with a Chicago Pneumatic. That was easy. Chipping the 3/8 nuts that had rusted from a 9/16 wrench size down to a 7/16 size off of a small block Chevy exhaust manifold without boogering up the remaining 2 threads on the stud was a little more difficult. An amazing tool with uses limited only to a mechanics imagination.

I like the quick change on the air hammer. Them springs are a pain. I like the allen head idea below. I have a variety of bolts I saved from scrap machines and center drill them on my lathe then ground the bit to match. Works great. The beards looking good old man! 😁

Excellent video Steve! Times like that, impact is the ticket. With big gearboxes corroded to shafts for 30 years, I put a 3 jaw puller on it, heat the taper lock, then hit it with a sledge. Same idea, works awesome. We always win buddy! Heineken cheers on a Friday night!

Yup, he’s got this down exactly right! One main reason I’m commenting is I noticed the gun he’s using has a thumb screw adjustment for speed. Unfortunately a lot of these guns the only speed adjustment is in the trigger and they are too touchy to control properly. Unbelievably often times the better brand-name guns are the ones with the speed control only in the trigger. I’ve had a couple cheap cheap units that last forever and ever just keep some oil in them most of the tips were universal. With the thumbscrew you can dial these down to just a little bit and less is more with these guns if you don’t like breaking things. Even with the power dialed way down just barely buzzing it’s amazing how much power that still creates.

WTF?? THIS WORKS!! I spent multiple sessions with a puller, heat, spray. Listened to multiple people tell me their tricks. Watched this, got a air hammer and in 15 seconds it vibrated right off. I do think it's best the motor be free-floating on the table -- off the frame. Also, some clutches have set screws on the shaft.
