This is such a common issue I'm surprised there's not alot of videos fixing this issue. Thanks a bunch!!

probably more people toss the old motor and buy a new motor / esc combo before they fix it.

A 3/8" masonry drill bit worked for me. I kind of hammered the flat head into the race which made a groove and then spun it with a drill and it came out! FYI: I went through the same thought process as you, tried just about all the same stuff. Thanks for the video, longer than it needed to be but it was nice to see troubleshooting steps.

Thanks you so so much for this video, I wanted to get the bearing out before I ordered the rebuild kit, the bearing literally got exploded by driving from the previous owner. Owner told me the motor was toast, just ordered the rebuild kit, let's hope that she'll live again! Again thank you so much!!!

I ended up getting the 3/8in drill bit method to work for me, but I wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't have watched your video. Big thanks!

I had the same problem taking it out and the same problem trying to get a new bearing back in it. First and second bearing shattered when trying to put it in. It's a very tight fit, atleast for my application it was. Thank you for the video, much appreciated brother

After the rebuild of my motor (Velineon 3500), I noticed the car comes rather fast to a stop, as if the motor was braking it. But I can't remember how it was with the old bearings. But I remember the velineon being rather hard to spin by hand. That remained after changing the bearings. Did you notice something similar or is this normal? I have a Max10 motor, that suddenly braked the car and sure enough one of the bearings was stuck.

@@timsdd Okay, I might try that.

I didn't have the 5.5 bit but figured out another way to get it out. I had a brass m8 plug that fit in, tunrned a m8 bolt in untill it was tight and tapped it out! I have a question though, the ( what i believe is teflon) that is wrapped around the rotor is completely gone, is this a problem? Is it replaceable?

That worked out great thank you for that tip!

thanks for the idea. i tried this method did not work for me. was ready to give up and buy a new motor. was sitting at my desk tinkering with it and found that a really small flathead was able to pick the edge from the "outside" of the motor and just push the race in there. its really not in there hard at all, so all you need to do is catch a lip, or even the groove where the balls ride and was enough to get it out.

I've found other way. I've managed somehow to move the ring a little bit before, or it moved itself when it broke. 1mm or even less. I've used a nail (screw with flat head should be fine as well), turned it upside down and jammed side of a head into the gap between the ring and engine cover. Then I've just hammered it gently. If you have a little gap there, it's worth a try

This JUST happened to me yesterday. But in my case the bearing broke before I took the motor apart. I can't get that damn outer race of the bearing out for the life of me. About to say screw it.
@3tch3r5 жыл бұрын
I got it! Used a screw driver and got super lucky that i got it wedged in there than a few hammer hits on top of the screw driver and wala! Motor works great again.

I just put a flat screw driver and gave ot a knock with a hamer. 2 knocks and it went out.
