This is probably a pre-1985 (or so) model, which was not built out of zinc coated sheet metal. The early T3 series are very sensitive in this area, because the smallest water ingress behind the screen rubber moves down via the longitudinal serrations in the rubber (10:32), and creates a small pool in the metal gutter under the lowest horizontal part of the rubber. That is the area where you see the line of corroded holes. This "gutter" or rebate was designed that way by VW, no water drain holes were designed there to let away the seeped in water. Nice video! I just removed my 1990 cracked windshield, definitely use rounded off blunt screw drivers. I ended up using plastic pannel tools. There wasn't any rust underneath so lm happy. Now I need to find a quality replacement.
