I'm going to get one of those pullers for the shop, no doubt about it they make the removal of the pump a lot easier. Good to see you back.

That is one of those jobs you got it that far apart, would be considering of putting a rebuilt injection pump on depending on the history of the truck. Good to see you are still alive and kicking

Great informative video. The one thing that I wish I would've done when I replaced my VP44 was to replace the tappet cover gasket, but I didn't know about them being troublesome back then. Again, great video!

I had to do the same thing to my 12v last month, it took a good little bit to get that dry rotted cork gasket off the tap-it cover.

I had a truck come in the shop with white smoke and low power after its at high idle or under a load more than 10 seconds. Its a 24 valve with a vp44 and mechanical lift pump. I believe the lift pump went out and took out the main pump but im not sure. is it common for that to happen? Thanks!

I'm not the one who works on these for a living, but I do know that is the lift pumps goes then often the VP44 will go to, it doesn't take long of fuel pressure levels of 5 psi or lower to kill the injection pump.

With the truck I'm getting (1990 dodge ram 250) I gatta tear into it and replace that same gasket. Couldn't I just stuff a rag or towel into the front cover to stop anything from falling in? Sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm just trying to find new ways of working this. Thanks! :D
