Anthony, Did this mod. A right angle attachment helped get good clearance to drill. German "sex bolts" can be used to keep exhaust from ruining outer cap. Short 1/4 chrome sex bolts can be drilled 1/16" to allow cotter key attachment point. Chrome heads visible inside pipe. Save baffles as future laws change. Reverse mod use aluminum pop rivets. Floppy valve delete completes mod, improves sound big time.

I did this mod and also removed the flapper valve. Pretty much impossible without a slide hammer. Bike sounds a million times better. Stock Akropovic is pretty but sounded like wet farts. Really embarrassing. Now it roars! Whistle only exists at a narrow range of drill hole diameters - just increase opening by 1mm increments until it disappears. Holes are mostly hidden anyway and only another R9t owner is gonna notice anyway. My bike has no tachometer but now exhaust note gives great feedback to how the engine is revving- I feel like it’s a whole new bike. Highly recommended mod!

This is a good mod but owners beware the newer model 2021onwards has a much longer baffle that is very difficult to removal, Have drilled out the spot wields but cannot remove the baffles. I need a bearer removal tool but unfortunately they don't hire this tool and I am not purchasing one just for this job.

Great video... thank you. I started drilling holes in my 2020 scrambler last night, wasn’t sure how big Of hole I needed to go. Would love to hear if you figure out a way to eliminate whistle, that’s the only hesitation I have with baffle removal

Delete floppy valve but use solenoid buddy to prevent trouble light. My R9T has used for 3 years no codes.
@drdrew32 жыл бұрын
@@lindaparker3140 Solenoid buddy costs $58. Just remove butterfly valve and cables leaving small solenoid box in place. It’s well hidden and weighs practically nothing. Cheaper and easier

@@BaronvonOldenbiker I did this mod and there is zero whistle. Frankly the muffler is now loud enough I don’t believe it’s even possible that he’d hear any whistle over the exhaust sound. Any whistle would only exist at a narrow range of drill hole diameters anyway. Just making the holes a tiny bit larger would eliminate a whistle. My holes are fairly large but since they are mostly hidden inside there’s no cosmetic issue - only another R9t owner would notice. Seriously not an issue

Question: Couldn't you have sawn off the weld and then sanded them down instead of drilling?
@lindaparker31403 жыл бұрын
Spot welds, look really close. There are three. Drill 1/4" hole in all three. Rent a slide hammer and remove baffle gently. Then sand if needed. The way inspections are heading you may need to put back some day.

Thinking of doing the same for my 400. I picked the bike up with upgrades already installed by the dealer. So the biggest one is that they installed an Akrapovic carbon slip on. The biggest problem I have tho....I don't want to drill into the carbon XD.

What tires are you running? I purchased a 22 with gold rims and off road tires but it delivered with black spoke and road tires. In reality I’ll be 80/20 but yours look closer to a 40/60 if that’s a thing.

Flapper Delete, plus a Catless set of headers, it'll be loud, deep and loud, just the way it should be. I have the Ackra Catless Headers, Flapper Delete, and the GeG Stainless Muffler and it's loud as hell. I get complaints from ADV riders all the time off-road.

I own this bike - it’s my fifth (or sixth). It’s 1200cc and 500 pounds. And if you drop it (as beginners do) it lands directly on the cylinder heads. Not a good beginner bike - especially at $12,000.
