Nice 👍 I don't think it's as difficult as people think, just need a bit of logical thinking.

Thank you very much for explaining this procedure. I drive a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix and I was curious if this same procedure would work for it too.

Thank you for posting this, I was able to save my dad from years of stress with his immobilizer. Yesterday he was stuck in the middle of nowhere. I had to use his car battery to jumper his key fob so he could get it running. Thank you. This will now never happen again!!

Can i just remove the immobilizer and have my car start? My original key broke so i got 2 copies made at home depot. Obviously they dont work because no transponder chip. Im just trying to cut that whole system out of the equation.

I know, had something at work a few years ago that was a none start. Removed aftermarket immobiliser and it fired up as it should.

Just remove the fuse

I'm pretty certain that would just immobilise the vehicle completely. The unit would have no power therefore the immobiliser couldn't be disarmed.

I appreciate this, just bought a 98’ NB mx5 and my immobiliser fucked itself so this has helped me get a rough idea of how to take this crappy thing out and get my car running

Not a problem, I've seen it happen a few times on after market immobilisers. Hopefully you are up and running soon.

I have a t4 with an aftermarket clifford alarm. Will this work to do you think?
@Papa77sGarage2 жыл бұрын
It should do. The main thing to think is how was it when it left the factory? Whether there are 4,6 or however many wires tampered with. Just think how was it when it left the factory. Most wires are colour coded so as long as the correct wires are joined back together you really shouldn't have any issues. Go one wire at a time and double check before snipping. Good luck.

I need a really old one removed from my car. All the wires have shorts in them and its sometimes causes it not to start. Cant get any shop to take a look at it because of the age of the car. its a 1992. They may also think I'm trying to steal my own car or something idk what people be thinking.

Life saving video, thanks, been nervously looking at the under side of my mx-5 steering wheel for a while... My Immobiliser seems to be the same, but is hooked up to an alarm as well, anything I should look out for?
@Papa77sGarage3 жыл бұрын
Just follow the wiring. Like with the immobiliser if any wires have been chopped they will be colour coded. Also don't cut any unless you are sure. Hopefully that helps.

Just curious, the aftermarket immobilizer (immobiliser, UK) was used for its "antitheft property"? If that is true, then that is too much for a thieve to do this work for undoing the purpose of "antitheft property" of this immobilizer! (A circular reasoning achieved on purpose.)

Thanks for the video! Any idea why Opel Vectra C 2003 2,2 TD think original factory immobilizer starts to affect starting the car? Just randomly 2-3 times a year it will have the immobilizer icon active on screen and car making no sound if you use the key. Few days later and after taking off the battery and switching the key batteries (think it has no effect thought). Cant think of nothing else than just taking it out, cause have been with it in very unpleasant situations cause of it. Just thinking, does immobilizer may have some fuse issues also?

Hi thanks for the video. I have a 20 year old mobilizer fitted in my car and I think its gone bad as the car wont crank. Ive seen a new mobilizer on ebay unused exactly the same as mine. Is it worth buying that its very cheap and just replace it. do you think this will work? If it does it will same me cutting the old one out. You help will be appreciated many thanks
@Papa77sGarage3 жыл бұрын
That should work if the immobiliser is at fault. Depending on the model it may just be a plug and play unit so will save you plenty of time. Obviously you will need to use the key fob that comes with the new unit. Hope you get it sorted.

You, Sir, are a legend! I've got a peugeot 309 gti goodwood that has an aftermarket Piranha immobiliser fitted and after removing the burnt out plip receiver, my car would no longer start! The fact you give this knowledge away for free is amazing

That's probably the most positive and enthusiastic feedback I've received. I'm glad I could be of service. I also can't remember the last time I saw a 309 GTI, I may have only seen one in my lifetime and it probably wasn't a Goodwood either. Look after that rare beast.
