Indeed, I think engines should have a room with the batteries. I am lucky to be rebuilding the top of a Lister HA2 currently and it is mid ship in a room. And possibly taking on an install of a Lister HAW2 soon. Got to love a midship install

Loved the info in your video. Especially keen to know more about the connections for the forward/reverse gearbox. My setup is an SR2 Lister with a dog clutch in my 26ft Millkraft sail Motor Yacht. F/R gears are a vertical rod connected to a winder. From a neutral position it is 4 turns each way to change direction. Would love to change over to a hand control like in your video. Do you have any tips on how I could do this.? I'm in Australia. Thanks, Helen

How does the fuel consumption compare with a Lister like this and a more modern Kubota engine of similar power?

That is a good question. There are a number of variables here to consider. This engine is a direct injection into the combustion chamber machined into the piston crown, they typically run very low RPM ranges upto 2500 RPM max. Very well built torque machines of their day. A kubota engine that is commonly is used on a boat in today's world are indirect injection as the pre combustion chambers are built into the head, they also run much faster RPM ranges as they would produce a lot of power at much quick response times, typically 5000RPM max. I'll do some figuring out as you'd need work a number of things. Compression ratio Swept volume Type of injection Type of aspiration Bare in mind the lister SR range was built 1967 - 1976 where as the Kubota ranges you see today are very modern. But Kubota have been around for for sometime. Do you have a specific Kubota model you want compared ?

@@dhcrouchmarineltd3049 I was just curious as these Listers chug past and sound so different. I have a small Sea Otter that has a little Beta Marine / Kubota Z482 engine, which I think is vaguely comparable to an SR1 in cc and power, though the characteristics must be quite different I'd imagine.
