I gave up buying fuel from boat yards, I now only buy from roadside filling stations, the fuel is clean, water free (probably because its not been hanging around in a tank next to the river!....cured all my fueling issues. Yes its a pain filling with jerry cans but better than stripping down the injection system every other season.

I bought a pair of motors that have the Hurth model HSW 450 A2-2,0 ser n 22 15223 A they have been sitting for years from what I was told they were took out of a boat after 20 to 40 hours run time and replaced because the owner wanted more power what do I need to do to make sure there ready to be used again I have manuals on them but I’m wondering about the seals or gaskets effect of stagnant fluid or no fluid on them

If I was called to inspect them I would drain the fluid (if any) and check inside with an endoscope. Try to gauge the state of play inside each box. If they are not on the engine then check the seals isnt hard. If they are crispy then definitely change them. All depends whats found. Do they spin by hand, engage each direction and see if there is any binding. Hope that helps a little

@@andrewdoble7973 I see. Nothing is exact but the PRM 120 / 125 use the same mount registration pattern. You have to realign the engine. Technodrive again use the same mount registration pattern. Again a slight remount and alignment. The PRM Hydraulic box the 150 fits but again you'll have to realign the engine and add an oil cooler for this. This is an example and for guidance only.

Great video, I can now 'see' what's happening inside my Technodrive gearbox. I had an enging rev 'surge' when manouvering at very low speed - it felt as if the input jumped off the forward ourput. Assuming the clutch surfaces aren't worn out am I right in thinking that the clutch can be adjusted by putting an allen key on the selecter barrel/shaft to move the fork?
@dhcrouchmarineltd3049

No, the selection fork needs the float shimmed. It wont help the clutch bite more. The centrifugal forces of the shaft spin will keep the clutch in drive engaged.

@@dhcrouchmarineltd3049 Sorry to be pressing you on this but an online manual has this: Clutch control unit adjustment: with the operating lever ref. 18 in neutral position, turn by hand the output flange ref. 26 and, at the same time, screw the adjusting screw ref. 28 with an alien wrench (4 mm) until the output flange rotation gets hard on a small arc only. Yes thats the float depth of the fork. To much in and it binds on the clutch gear. Shimming just keeps it from fowling and jamming on the clutch. So in a sense it is clutch adjustment but not in how the clutch "bites" rather the selection of the clutch cone. Hope that makes sense

I would get a new clutch and compare the average over an area. I dont think its states it in the book. That being said I am sure something like 1.6mm springs to mind. The friction material is supposed to suspend oil while the clutch is working. But to gauge wear factor best guess is all I have to say atm. Typically you can tell if one is ok or not. Clutch plates are a bit easier to asses as they either warp or grind to death. I had a clutch I changed recently from a PRM 120 that showed dead spots in a band around the clutch. The friction coating was falling off. Hope that helps.
