What was the original reason to change the rotor? Was the CR-V giving any issue with the ignition?

Thank you! Saved me a lot of time.

I am very late on this video but does this method not require timing the distributor????

The spring that is visible in this video i have a question about, Im having p0335 issues with my 2000 crv-se and after replacing the crankshaft position censor im still getting this error code so i removed the distributor cap and noticed that the spring i mentioned is completely covered with rust. Does this spring have a specific purpose that it should not have rust? Thanks
@jhernandez2822 жыл бұрын
The spring is the ignition coil . Some do fall out but if it does its poor connection if you refuse it that can be the problem .
@jhernandez2822 жыл бұрын
Rust also means water or some liquid got into it and eventually will be bad I'd change the ignition coil witch is held on by 2 Philips head screws

Also that the oring on the distributor may be cracked letting water in.

Any advice for getting the set screw out if it is stuck in there really good? I think mine is original to the car (220k miles).

PB Blaster liquid penetrator works well. Spray where it threads in if you can, the let it sit. Some times if you put the screw driver in place then lightly tap on the end a few times, it will break the screw loose. Be careful doing that on the distributor though since it's a more fragile component

What if the rotor is seized? Doesn't turn when motor turns.
@MechanicalMike2 жыл бұрын
Could be broken teeth on the ring gear of your distributor, or possibly broken timing belt. I'd pull the distributor and make sure the gear is intact first, as that would be the easiest thing to do as far as troubleshooting

@@MechanicalMike rip. it's my timing belt.

I would load that screwthread with some grease. They tend to lock into the shaft pretty bad.
