I'm 41 years old and sometimes think about the pre-internet world. Then I find myself staring at a heavy door on the floor, after treating my oven to a special deep clean, and trying to figure out how on earth to reattach it. Thank God for youtube and to you Andy for making such an easy to understand video!! (Mine is a Samsung model if that's of relevance to anyone looking this up in the future). Better not to dwell on how I got to my forties before getting around to cleaning an oven properly...

Thanks for this - we’d been wrestling with this for two days! In our case, the hinge locks on the door pins were folded down, which prevented the pins from extending far enough to catch in the oven slots. Pulling firmly on the pins to extend them, then opening the locks to hold the extended pins in place, did the trick.

After looking at the minimal instructions from Samsung and a different KZbin video and spending an hour restraining myself from throwing the oven door out of the house in frustration, I found your video. The difference was that you showed how the hinges on the door should look as they come out and go back in. For all this is an excellent video! I do want to add one thing though! Before you go to slide the door in. Take a flashlight look into the oven slot. you will see a pin in the middle. You have to guide it under that pin. If you go above that pin the door wants to fall out and not lock. If you get one side and not the other you can crack the door.

Hi Andy, You saved the day. I installed the double oven yesterday in my daughter's new kitchen and thought I broke the lower oven hinge because I could not get it to stay inside the oven's frame. We called for GE service and they proclaimed the double oven unit would have to be replaced. I felt bad because I thought I broke the hinge so we spent two hours on the phone talking to three different managers until they agreed to send a service mechanic. The mechanic told us over the phone he would order the hinge but it was on backorder and not back in stock until November 11. Now I realize, there is nothing wrong with the hinge and I can fix it myself. Thank you very much. Joe

The instructions are invaluable because both people have to have exactly the same instructions in mind before the act can be choreographed. The instructions here are perfect. It is also helpful to pile three milk crates upon which to rest the oven; just kick them out of the way before opening the oven. Thanks for a great little video!

My oven hinges had popped back up so while you didn’t cover it in this video for troubleshooting, I managed to put it back in the right place by putting the door on and pulling back on the hard springs of the hinges using the weight of the door. Then I could reset those catches. Seeing how it was supposed to look here helped!

This is a great video. After removing the door (somehow not the way he demonstrated) I managed to remove all the parts and clean the glass panels. After several attempts & 45 min later I was getting frustrated and sought help. I too have a GE Profile double oven and after reviewing this video once, I was able to replace the door with ease.

Andy great presentation. Thank you I spent 1 frustrating hour on this door cleaning project. then 3 min with your video. 5 minuets compleating the job.

We wrestled with this for a day, watched your video twice, and went at it again. After about 3 tries, the door was in! The sign that you have put it in correctly is that the hinge locks when raised, are flush with the slot where the hinges go. Thanks so much! I don't think I'll try this again.

Thank you for this great video which actually showed how to remove and install with close-ups. I had been getting frustrated getting it back in until I watched your video and saw that I should not try to close the door first, but rather open it fully and lock the pens. Thanks.

I can’t tell you how easy you made my life with this great video…. Slow and precise explanation. I can’t go into the curse words I used before I watched this video and saved it for future door removal and reinstalling. This GE profile igniter goes every 6 months to a year. It may be to heavy use 7 days a week 2 times a day…… but if you have any clue why it goes so much …. I’ll send you some beer😂
@AndyMahnFL4112 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be surprised if many of these oven doors went sailing through windows out of sheer aggravation. For the igniters, I think it's simply a matter of substandard manufacturing and materials. Case in point: I had a GE side by side refrigerator and the defrost element was so cheaply made, I ended up replacing it with a dual element unit so at least I didn't have to go in there every 6 months to replace it.

I've watched several videos on the proper re-installation of the oven door, but this one shows the most important parts; the proper angle of the door and the all important notch in the hinge which needs to catch the pin in the oven in order for the door to be secured in place. Good job!

It all started when something got stuck in the drawer and I could not open the drawer. I tried taking off the door to see if I could reach what was stuck. Finally I had to slide the oven away from the wall to get into the drawer from the back and take out the stuck cooking pan. Using this video helped me take off the door and get it back on easily. Even though I didn't need to do it to solve the original problem I learned something in the process. Thank you.

@@AndyMahnFL411 I'm retired nuclear worker in upstate SC, happily married for almost 51 years, have two sons, both married, one lives nearby, and the other lives in Texas. We have 7 grands. The name came from a former KZbin creator that made fishing videos and then cleaned and fixed recipes with his catch (an entree with a couple of sides) for him and his wife. Standing in front of a small pond, he would say that he had "all the ingredients for today's recipe except for one, so let's go to the "Open Air Fish Market" Here's one of his videos - he say's it at the 0:11 mark kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYqlanevjdl-rJY I originally started my channel with the idea of fishing and fixing recipes just like him, but I didn't have a private pond and can't go fishing near as much as I want to, so I ventured off into doing DIYs and showing some of my art with wood.
