How to Remove and Reinstall the Fuser Unit on Brother MFC-L5700, MFC-L5900 and similar models

This is a great video. Really helps! Two comments: 1. He forgets to tell you to reinstall the Duplex Tray. 2. The "white lever" (@ 2:02) is not so easy to remove. There is a locking tab on a portion of the lever that inserts into a track. I didn't get to try this, but it looks like if you slide the lever down, there is an opening so you can tilt the lever outand then lift it out. I removed mine as he shows in the video, by pushing it up and pulling it out. This caused the locking tab to break off. I went ahead and completed the removal and reinstall as he shows using my white lever with the broken off locking tab. Printer seems to be working just fine.

Two thumbs up. I'm a repair person and I can say is that this is probably the best video on the subject I've seen. The only thing I'd add is that the white piece on the left is rarely so easy to install - you will more likely have to push up the other white lever above it to slide it in higher.

Awesome! My HL6180DW also had a delicate spring on the right side that needs to be disconnected prior to removing the fuser.

THank you. Same insttructions for Brother 5470. These fusers are prone to failure of lubrication and reapplying toner grease can help prolong the life of the printer (for a bit). A full fuse unit is too expensive to make it worthwhile to replace. Mine failed at 69000 pages

Excelente video,, a los fusores de la mayoría de las máquinas Brother hay que hacerles un mantenimiento interno, para sustituir y limpiar la grasa vieja y degradada, para evitar problemas de falta de nitidez en parte de la impresión, o falta de una buena fijación del toner al papel, o atascos reiterados en la unidad del fusor, ¿cada cuantas hojas, estimas que seria necesario realizar este mantenimiento al fusor? gracias.

Creo que sólo se debe hacer cuando la calidad empieza a deteriorarse o cuando hay problemas de impresión relacionados con los rodillos del fusor.

How do you know when a fuser needs replacement??

Check if it is worn for start. the main defects related to the fuser are ghosting prints, repetitive defect at the same sidtance of the circunference of the rollers, toner does not ashere to the page, paper jammings
