Thank you for the instructions. I call them cataracts. We tried the sanding as well and it worked for awhile. My car is old, but I wont drive an ugly one. :) My headlights are not as bad as your moms were. I am looking forward to seeing down the road again. :)

With help I managed to change the headlights on my 2008 using this process, without removing the bumper etc like it says in Haynes etc. I left the metal clips in place that are hard to access, removed them from the new assemblies and slotted the new assemblies into place in the existing metal clips. You can widen them out with a screwdriver. They tighten again when you do the bolt up.

Hi Logan! This was an excellent video! Now I can help get the housings changed out for my dad’s 4Runner. I might have missed this, but where did you purchase the new headlight housing for your mom’s 4Runner?

I called the Toyota Dealership, they wanted $350.00 each ! That's $700.00 a pair. I ordered off of Ebay, brand new, $150.00 FOR THE PAIR. They are very well made. After you install, I strongly advise to spray a few coats of clear on your new lens. That will help with the sun trying to bake them again.

Any suggestions for the lights not being in the same alignment/height after the instal? My passenger lights are projecting lower after the new install. I did the tape on the wall trick to monitor this. Thanks

There should be an adjustment screw on the back so you can move them.

Did you have any weird horizontal shadow with these new headlamps? I’ve replaced mine with three different headlamps from three different vendors and they all produce a horizontal shadow which distracting when driving at night

Honestly I've had this issue with any aftermarket headlights, but sometimes its just the brand of bulbs you use that will do it too.

Thanks for the response. I’ve just accepted it and am use to it now. I was reading that somewhere that it has to do with a change in manufacture so that the beam won’t blind oncoming driver. Not sure how true that is. Thanks again

Your problem is the headlight adjustment screws. My aftermarket headlights were aimed pretty low from factory(thought it was the bulb) Adjust 2 screws(maybe 1, nickelsize washer) on the back of housing to correct.

The driver side headlight should always be slightly lower than the passenger side. This is by design to help not completely blind the on coming drivers.

i am trying to change mine but the new ones don’t have holes for the blinker lights to go in like the old ones do. i am so confused

Don't be scared. Changing lights isn't hard at all. Take some time and save yourself money. Same thing with air intake hoses, maf sensor cleaning, changing the throttle sensor, or vacuum hoses. All of this is easy stuff. Dealership charged me over $100 to change my throttle position sensor the first time. The second time, I put on an oem one in under 5 minutes. Literally 2 screws and a plug. I was so mad.
