For the mount you loosened, do you need to support the engine by jacking the oil pan. I see you didn’t do it but I’m wondering why other videos do.

No need to jack it up, it's a torque mount. Though crucial, when I first got the car, I ran it without that mount until I sourced the whole mount itself. So really it would be safer but not necessary. Since the torque mount doesn't hold the engine it's there to stabilize the engine and reduce movement while driving.

Thank you so much for this video. I put my Honda back on the road back in April and bought all three belts I have a 98 VTEC. And then decided I'm just going to wait until one of them breaks and well my alternator belt broke tonight. Luckily I have all three of them sitting there brand new in the garage. But I needed a video showing me how to do it cuz I never did it yet so thank you very much.

Well it took me 2 hours today to figure everything out even though I watched the video five times. And I ended up doing an AC delete cuz I don't use it anyway and I don't even know if it works I've never once used it in the 5 years I've owned the car. So I have no idea if it even works and considering the bolts were being a real pain in the ass to get out of the engine mount I decided the easy route was just to do an AC delete because I need the alternator and I need the power steering I don't need the AC.

Thanks so much, My girlfriend has a 1993 Honda del sol and as I was changing the oil I looked down and saw a shredded belt on the alternator and ended up changing all three belts. Your video completely help me 100%. The only thing I would add is that on the AC belt you have to loosen the tensioner pulley center bolt before the adjuster will let you loosen or tighten the belt. You saved me a lot of heart ache with this repair. 👍✌️

My power steering mount for the pump isn't lining up correctly, Looks like yours but when I put one bolt thw other ones wont line up the block by a centimeter, would you know if one is slightly shorter ?
@TONI5-252 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what the issue is for you specifically, but I actually had something like this happen to me with my ac compressor. The pulley stuck out further than the crank shaft. I pretty much needed a new compressor anyway, so I replaced it with a new one from Rock auto and after that the belt lined up perfectly.

Can you please tell me the size of each belt? Thanks!

is the alternator belt the same size as the power steering one
@TONI5-252 жыл бұрын
If I'm not mistaken they are pretty much the same. You can adjust the slack on both the power steering pump and alternator, so you should be able to interchange them.

Very confused on how you got the ac belt loose. The bolt that you says loosens the idler came completely out and no tension was lost, loosened the ac compressor and no tension was lost. Can’t get the belt off now.

at 2:08 / 2:09 there you will see the adjust pulley for the A/C. You remove that bolt and the bracket the pulley sits on.
