Thank you much! The dealer wants $2550 to replace these on a 2017 X6😳

I am glad you found the video on time. And I hope you fixed it well.

The reason other videos suggest cutting the wires near the strut, is to attach the new connector to it, and use the old wire to pull the new wire through (instead of using a coat hanger).

Well, if you put it that way. That is another way of getting it done. Thank you for clarifying that.

I liked this version better as it doesn't place any STRAIN on the super thin connector wires

@@n-da-bunka2650 I just did mine yesterday. There’s really no more strain pulling the new connectors with the old wires versus the coat hanger wire. But both methods will work.

If my tailgate won’t open, how do I get it up so that I can replace those struts?
@all-about-cars-basics7 ай бұрын
As long as you have some power in the car (working battery) you can unlock the trunk manually and lift it up manually all the way. The struts are stiff but will give way when you apply it with some pressure.

Hey! So how would I know that the problem is in the electrical tailgate?
@all-about-cars-basics6 ай бұрын
If you hear a clicking noise when the switch is activated. Or if it goes dead completely.
