This is the easiest way. Tried other methods before but they were to complicated and a waste if time. Thanks for this. I love these short videos.

Could you please tell me what the BG layer (white fill) is and how did you create that.
@heartofntx6 ай бұрын
Create new fill/adjustment layer (white.OK). Unlock the background layer and scoot the original layer underneath it.

I usually use "Blend if" option with the copied layer (with mask) on top and it seems good as well.

Want to keep the shadow on a transparent layer? Do these same steps, but keep the fully white background around the shadow and place a white fill layer underneath the shadow layer. You want the whole image to be white with the exception if the shadow. Select all and copy merged. Create a new black fill layer, open the layer mask and paste from clipboard. Invert the mask. You should now have just the shadow on a new layer and can tweak its layer mask using levels to strengthen the shadow or lighten it, decreasing the opacity also works to make it less intense.
@AshuraTheHedgehogDX3 жыл бұрын
If you followed the steps up to the copy and paste, you can alternately group your layers and use blend-if on the groups layerstyle settings to fade white to transparent, convert the group to a smart object and then use additional layerstyles on the smart object to tweak the shadow colour, etc.

I don't have the subject or sky options in my select box, is there a way to fix that or somewhere else I can find this tool?

It’s just part of the new photoshop update. You can use any selection tool you have to cut out the subject though.

At the end what settings does the brush have, you have an inner circle as well?

I am having trouble exporting this is a transparent png. The layer mask over the shadow layer comes out all white. Anyone know how to fix this? Not familiar with how to use the shadow as a new channel Like Douglas said to below.
@desertrose06012 жыл бұрын
Yeah this wasn’t the greatest tutorial - the background layer is still there, just changed color. I would recommend selecting the shadow and putting it on its own layer. Probably can grab it pretty well with the select color option. I don’t know anything about channels so can’t address that question.

what is the point of this if you can't make ta bg transparent
@desertrose06012 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree. This wasn’t what I thought this tutorial was going to be. I think we all assumed he was going to remove the background to make a transparent object. But apparently not. 🤷🏼♀️ I would say instead of the weird white background layer he made, on that layer just select the shadow so the shadow is on its own layer. Then there’s no more background to deal with.
