you are the best contractor trainer. I am a home inspector. I have watched your videos on window, vinyl siding and many other installations. all your procedures are based on the most textbook guidelines without any short-cut . 💯👍 I know there are many contractor youtubers with more than a million subscribers but after watching some of their videos, i noticed that they make short-cuts in different installations that can raise any home inspector red flag. I hope to see more videos from you.

I am sorry if my question is not related to your videos. I just wanted to ask my question in the comments. As a general rule I know that the drywalls should not be tight in place and recommendation is to consider 1/4 inch short but I don’t know how in practice! For example in ceiling: Must the first sheet be tight against the corner or considered 1/4 inch gap against the corner? What about the next sheet beside it? And the last sheet on ceiling? And the then after hanging on ceiling, the same questions for walls? Would you please explain me or if you have a video about it, refer it to me? Thanks

Be sure to watch to 10:08 for the best new tip I saw when reviewing baseboard videos. Overall, great video, but once he gets through with the main gist you are tempted to cut out before the end. The tip about using the big bar underneath was worth watching to the end. [Except for YT's 3rd ad near the end, but hopefully they give this guy something for it.]

Hello, Shannon. You are so helpful, knowledgeable, and likeable. I always tell my women friends who are trying to do a repair to go on KZbin and find home improvement videos by men who are Canadian, not U.S. men, because I have found you all are so community minded, kind, and generous. Nice tip with using a small scrap of wood to protect the wall. Last weekend I removed the baseboards in my foyer and kitchen in preparation to install vinyl floors. I used a tool called the Zenith trim puller that I found extremely useful. Unfortunately for me, the prior homeowners used the wrong nail type when they installed the trim so I had to be extra careful so as not the break the baseboards in half. Somehow only one small corner piece broke in half.

Thank you! This video helped me understand how to take my time and remove the trim properly. I was going to use all quarter trim after installing new click and lock flooring. After spending $101 on two 10 by 10 rooms just for the quarter trim I about passed out. It would cost me over $1,000 if I needed to do this in all the rooms after floor upgrades. Now I'm going to remove the trim, install the floor then put the trim back on. Thank you for the tips. Wish me luck! 5 more rooms to go!

I found using end nippers to remove the nails is easier and results in less damage to either the wall or the molding. The end nippers have a large rounded surface to spread the load out. I used to twist the pliers but it was difficult to do and caused damage. Even my kids and wife found the end nippers very easy to use. Just started using the slim bar which works so much better than the bar I used before. Great video and Thanks

Hey Shannon, how are you? Just got a quick question a little unrelated to this video .. in regards to using finishing nailers, I know that 18 gauge is for trim and similar size material, but when do you decide to use a 15 gauge? Awesome video. slightly late but again in my case it was much more complicated as I have had thicker nails. I would not make using one tool. I used 2 crowbars like yours heavy and few more things to help. My problem was nails were 45 degrees so it was required to push off the wall and from the floor. But still same technic used wooden thing to avoid damaging

What a great video. This is the kind of expert advice I need. I have a question. Is it possible to run data cable along the tiny bit of space along the floor? I feel like pulling up baseboards would probably be easier than running it through walls and the attic. I live in a 2 story house on a slab.

I have to install baseboards in an area that will eventually require new flooring. I really don't want to glue them on because they'll just have to be removed. Were any of those baseboards glued? It seems like gluing will cause more drywall damage and I just fixed those walls when I removed the door jamb in preparation for a "barn" door. Not sure what to do... maybe a glue that's not too strong?
