Not sure if the pre-drilled holes on the 530 will allow the larger thumb studs to fit properly. But now I must take one apart to find out!!

I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of some reliable aftermarket vendors of thumb studs standoffs AKA Barrel spacers and scales. I'm looking to get red accents for my 940-2. I could trade out the ones on my Battlewashed Bugout but that's not gonna happen. About the scales in general I'm looking for but not limited to "natural" wood or bone styles for the modern knives.
@zachstuff
@zachstuff 5 жыл бұрын
Howdy Shaun, for hardware I use Adrian who has an eBay store in Australia. Parts are mostly titanium and to spec in many colors! For scales go with Rogue Bladeworks and Rock Scale Design. Both fabulous and I have many from each. However I am not sure if they are making bone scales. So maybe reach out to Death Of All Things on Instagram. I will drop a link to Adrians store in a few.

Zach do you know of anywhere I can get some red standoffs for the bugout like in your video.. I missed out on the battlewashed knife Center red/ black bugout and now a year or so later it is becoming a knife I want so badly.. even just the scales... I know Adrian makes some but they are quite pricey and several weeks from Australia
@zachstuff
@zachstuff 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jack Man! You can build one with the hardware you are looking for on the Benchmade Custom Knife Builder. Then do some scale swapping or dark washing. www.benchmade.com/bugout-family.html?customize=1#/product/bmk-pro-bugout-full

Great video. If I hadn't already removed and replaced the black thumb studs on my Super Freek with the red aluminum ones from Australia it would have made me more comfortable than I was doing it. I am amazed that they have these parts already used on other knives why they didn't sell them seems like they missed and may still be missing a huge amount of money for very little work. Oh well guess they figure they make enough. Great video you should do more like that instead of showing an entire build break it into easier pieces like this. Thanks

Here's a trick that I used for my 940. Ya get the handle all assembled then back off on all the screws about 1-1/2 turns. Fold some cardboard or paper to slide in between the scales this helps create a little extra room to work. Now slide the pivot in just far enough to pop in a washer then repeat for the blade and the other washer. If after reassembly your having trouble getting the centering right just remove the pivot and swap the washers to the other sides of the blade.

I want to apologize in advance for this really long comment maybe I should have made a video but think about what I say in this comment. I just commented on several channels that I bought 10 knives mostly budget a few mid range there are so many knife companies out there that cost a lot so I got me a dremel tool with all of the bells and whistles I’m going to start or I have actually started modding all my knives like you I put finger Choil on the ones I wanted I’m dyeing scales chamfering edges blade jimping and cutting down large flipper tabs making the have jimping and geometrically better on the deployment mirror polishing modding scales to have better traction the best thing it doesn’t cost a dime unless I buy light colored scales for my para 2’s and 3’s to dye them it’s away to to make little tweaks that make it my own sprint runs lol...I’m tired of buying someone big companies knifes and there is no way to upgrade unless you go sprint or black class or gold class or whatever I am my own Continued quality improvement if I see a knife I like but I say oh only if it had chamfered TI or if it had this or that on the knife then it would be perfect well now I can do that and make myself the perfect budget or mid range knife you did a great job on yours but I’ve been thinking of starting a channel where I only do mods to existing knife just making them a lil different and maybe people will like it better or do it themselves cuz I’m not going to start taking orders and opening books I will have secret ideas and ways of doing things. I have had enough of dealing with zt lack if innovation or I say designers block BM is perfect to do a whole bunch of mods and these Chinese are starting to beat us in the knife making arena so I will make knives that are already good hat much better like a knife where you can’t get to the liner lock well I would chamfer it away and smooth out the liner lock to feel like a lock bar. Oh you don’t like the sharp hot spot from the jimping well grind it down yourself instead of waiting for the companies do then add $50 to the price there are a million upgrades you can do. I have a bunch of copies from AliExpress of course no logos or anything there were for my own use and yes there copies if existing knives by big companies so I have started modding them I have about 10 mods of all kinds of different lil tweeks here and there. My only problem is I don’t have the appropriate knowledge of how to start a channel or advice or I’m a little hesitant and reluctant I don’t know the first thing about having and maintaining a channel oh I have really good other ideas as well. I would need support from my peoples whom I subscribe to to help me do it right I don’t want be another reviewer. I will be behind the camera and simply talking about my mods and upgrades I want to make sure people don’t think there customs or mid tech it’s just little ol me putting micarta or CF or unique G10 one a pm 2 or on CJRB, or Civivi, Steel Will ect... dyeing the scales I would buy plates of the material and make the custom scale myself but not sell it because it’s one of a kind doesn’t mean people can’t do the same. But there are a few unambitious peoplethat it wouldn’t be worth it. It’s not about cost it’s about making something everyone has but make it yours your own flare to your regular knife. it would be really fun and we don’t have to stay on youtube as long as we disclaimi lam a CFO at a high profile finance firm with bit time legal team what I’m doing it might even make the big companies start putting out some good knives. I got excited because I mentioned this to like to like over 10 channels and other reviewers, not just in the knife community and somewhere like hell yeah for sure I see a future but I need help starting out who would help a small knife guy with a flash of genius sorta anyway. I’m so excited this could be very good with the correct help. For real we can go international while making sure it’s all about fun knives and making sure the community of people involved keep there head proportionate and stay humble because whatim thinking is actually really easy we won’t be violating any copyright issues all we are doing is the same thing that people already do in a different way meaning of adding aftermarket parts to a car or lifting truck but we build them and mod them ourselves. No selling whatsoever we never make one knife we show them how to do it themselves and make big money on KZbin Instagram Facebook people are already doing just not big in the knife collector enthusiasts community to bring awareness that just because guys and gals like kniv s were not crazy and it would bring attention to the greatest community of people out there. Nothing against Guns but hat would have to be left out knives only Guns are too political. Sorry again for the long comment but if you read it something inside you is thinking about it.
