Thanks! I was having a bear of a time getting my saw back together. Watched until you mentioned "chain brake" @ 24 seconds and knew EXACTLY what my problem was. Disengaged the brake and it all went back together easy as you please. 1000 thanks!

Good vid. I feel like I know u now. I' m the guy that had shoulder surgery Wednesday am. I have been sitting in a chair for 3 days watching your videos over and over again. Buy the time I am well, I will be able to fix any small engine problem. Thanks for making such good videos. I would have been bored out of mind.

Donyboy, thank you for making a great no nonsense video. I wish you would teach others how to. Most videos suck, yours are the first ones i have seen that are perfect in content, and explanation. thank you for not telling me a bunch of basic shop safety crap i already know.

Thankx Don! I would not have thought of the recoil. Ya saved me some hair pulling. Using rope to stop the piston is brilliant. Thanks again. Your time is appreciated.

FYI; It's Pronounced Po-Len. They put it right in their ads years ago.
@knucklebuster6112 жыл бұрын
Yes. Then remove the 2 screws and it'll pop right out. The tube is just snapped in; you can pop it out of the saw with a small screwdriver. Just finishing up this same saw this evening.

Thanks for the info. I fixed an old Homelite (original) today thanks to your video. I wasn't sure about how to get the clutch off without doing any damage. I followed your ideas, but I had to improvise on the gadget you put over the clutch and attach to your wratchet. Worked like a charm. Thanks again. The rope trick was handy, too.

Thank you for another great video on the Poulan 2150 chainsaw. I like the nylon rope technique. I may get another 16 years of service out of my old Poulan chainsaw.

Great work around of the special Poulan tool by Cerberus Bonsai below. I hate buying special tools that I might only use once or twice in what life I have left. Thanks for the video.

Pro-tip: You can use a $10 harbor freight angle-grinder + a lil vice (or big clamps!) and use a 14-->17mm socket (from a socket-wrench set) to make a custom-sized sprocket tool!! /am obviously not a pro (and donyboy certainly is!), just figured I'd add this since I'd waited on fixing a sprocket for a while (no specialty tool and hammer&chisel wasn't dislodging it) and this idea hit me, it was actually easy to make probably took 10min w/ a cut-off wheel (for the love of god wear eye protection, at minimum, w/ grinders!!)

A lot of them are interchangeable. Check the part numbers on the exploded diagrams at ereplacementparts or searspartsdirect websites.

I tried locking it and unlocking it but the band doesn't move. It says at it largest, it wasn't big enough to go on the clutch without releasing it. Hope this isn't to screwy to understand.

What a great video thank you. I have a Poulan 2150 had it for years, time to replace the sprocket. I have one ordered. I don't have that special wrench though. Not sure what I'm going to do, but I'm thinking about sticking an oil filter strap wrench on the other side, at least I know how it comes off now. Thanx again.

Any rope will do. I have an old piece if clothesline rope I use just for this purpose. All it does is stops the piston so it locks up. Use the same method for removing the flywheel.

Tip on cleaning the chain bar: take an old hacksaw blade and cut a notch in one of the holes - fabricating a 'hook' of sorts - it fits perfectly in the groove and will get out a lot of stuff an air gun will not

I just wanted to tell you that I look for your videos when seeking this type of info.Your style/methods seem to reach me the best?Not sure if that is good in the big picture but I prefer yours to most others that I've seen.Sure wish that you'd do some Solo stuff from the smaller bunch 645 type saws.Thanks.

if it's at it'a largest then it should go on but if it only stays there then the brake won't work, the band may be broken

Got a question. Without endorsing and brand or make, can you do a short video on an adequate HP and gallon size compressor for a small engine shop. I recently purchased a 1 HP, 3 gallon, 125 psi good quality, well-known brand. I have no regrets about the purchase it just cycles frequently when blowing off dirt, sawdust, etc. and I don't want to give it an early death. Would be interested in what I need that can handle the demand. Thanks.

How do you measure proper chain tension when adjusting/tightening the chain? Is it around 1/8 gap between chain and bar when pulling the chain away from the bar?

I got a question. I was putting on a new clutch break cover handle ass. and when I push the handle to open the break up there was a snap and now there is no movement from the break band.
@donyboy7314 жыл бұрын
what model do you have
@bigpardner9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your many helpful videos. I know this one is a bit old, but I thought you went by too quickly whatever you did at 1:28, was it lock the cylinder in place? I have no idea what you did there. Same later at 3:48, removing the recoil? I will have to look that up elsewhere to understand what you did and why.
@Gazza612538 жыл бұрын
+bigpardner he put a rope down the cylinder hole to stop the piston from moving when tightening and loosening the clutch and he took off the recoil so there is no pressure on the recoil when tightening up the clutch when putting it back on.
@shades36013 жыл бұрын
cool. should have watched this b4 i did mine. didn't have a piston stop so i pulled the other side cover off and jammed a screwdriver in the flywheel fins. got it off but broke a fin
@trwilkinson46233 жыл бұрын
Late reply, replace the flywheel as the missing fin would cause imbalance on crankshaft & put extra force on main bearing. Possibly accelerating failure of the engine.
