Thank's Matt, I'm glad I ran onto your video..You made a lot of sense, in regards to the size of the stones. Some Would drive a jeweler crazy....I had not thought about the the replacement of the small gems.. Thanks again for the quick, and sensible reply.. L.L.

We've been getting a lot of cheap jewelry from fragrant jewelry bathbombs. I am wondering if the gemstones are worthy of salvage? Since the ring metal turns her finger green; we basically have a box of scrap jewelry.

The easiest place is a bead or rock shop. They should have a couple pairs. Also an independent jeweler might be willing to order you a pair.

What do you do with the stones that you take out of the rings I buy scrap gold and silver and have alot of various stones

Keeping all of those stones is awesome, because many of them are not worth much but there are gemstone buyers. First separate all the clear and test for diamonds as diamonds are much easier to sell. When it comes to the color it can be difficult to determine which are the valuable colored gems. The most valuable is sapphire, ruby, emeralds. So dark blue stones that are larger should be checked by a gemologist same with red and emerald green. You can also sell small bags of color on eBay. Look up scrap gold gemstones, or break out gemstones. Good luck! If you need more training we are launching a full training course in the next 10 days!

WHY would anyone sell a gold item with any gemstone above 1/32mm and let the gold buyer DEDUCT for the weight of a stone? Are folks actually PAYING these people to keep their precious and semi-precious stones (that's the deducted portion, for the apparently ill informed public). I guess it's not illegal to let someone sell their 1 carat diamond engagement ring for the price of the gold MINUS the stone's weight but it MUST be unethical. No wonder these people didn't riot in the streets when the Bushes stole their retirement 401(k)'s their pensions and their investments

I think you misunderstand what I am talking about. I am not saying to buy a diamond ring with a 1 carat stone, deduct for weight and pay nothing for the stone. That is ridiculous! Most of what you see when your scrapping is light colored cheap semi precious stones like citrine, amethyst, blue topaz, etc. These stones have practically zero resale value on the secondary market. The whole point of teaching people to remove gemstones is so they can take the stone out give it back to the person if they want it and get an accurate weight. On items that you cannot remove with pliers like bezel set stones you can deduct for the weight, I do not make anything on these loose junk stones. If it is a valuable diamond then I pay for it like any ETHICAL person would.

This is one of the best brands, you want semi flush or flush cut. Flush cut is a little better but often they can get damaged a little easier. Lindstrom is a very good brand and range from $28-50 a pair, not cheap but its night and day difference from that and a $5 pair. www.riogrande.com/product/Lindstrom8151FlushCutters/111421?gclid=Cj0KCQjwxtPYBRD6ARIsAKs1XJ6qluTi-ZIl7QtfsbdDoJ6VkcUSOgt37LQNHaG2vcp5YLUa7DNIIr4aArriEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

This video would be 1000x better if you zoomed in and actually showed the stone being removed. Ugh.

you over explain way too much. write down what you want to say and say it. you shouldn't do it off the cuff without editing your takes.

I would rather have an over-explanation then under. This is good info. Who cares about how it sounds and the polish. I understood it perfectly. Shoot from the hip is how I like my youtube videos.
