How To Remove Green Screen In iMovie

A cool tip I figured out to bypass greenscreen lighting challenges is to apply the green background to our greenscreen clip, save as file, re-import and apply the desired background, eliminating so much editing and imperfections. An extra step well worth it. No more stressing about lighting, giving us more lighting versatility with less lighting required

Thanks so much my friend! I actually purchased a green screen because I thought it looked kind of cool , but had no idea I could change my background in iMovie until now , yes what an idiot! Okay, just one more question my friend... can you replace any background in iMovie or do you actually need to film in front of a green screen? Gerard Vinar that is hilarious!!!! I’m glad you now know what the screen is for. 😂 m I was using GarageBand but I’ve switched to Logic because I started getting to the limits of GB. As soon as I imported my GB files my music changed in sound quality! Not to mention, it made it so that I could mix and master to get to radio quality. I’m going to eventually do some GB tutorials too.

To answer your question... you can remove the green screen only. So you’ve gotta film in front of it.

Hey! So the green outline is based on 2 things. 1) lighting and 2) proximity to the green screen. You will want to move a bit away from the screen it’ll cut down on the green outline. Also, lighting being properly placed on the screen to make it evenly lit and also on your subject to look natural. The thing is iMovie being a non-pro editor is going to have some issues that Final Cut Pro won’t have. I still struggle with it and I’ve primarily moved to FCP as a result with my more important work.

You should complain to Apple or switch to Final Cut Pro…. Like I did. The program is great for beginners but if ya wanna do something serious you gotta get off the free platform.
