Thank you very much. This helped me greatly. I bought a new mb5460 and replacing the Cyan cartridge for the first time, I by mistake put Cyan in Magenta slot. After turning the printer on, it gave an error 5501 that is unable to recognize the cartridge but the head was locked in one corner. I tried starting and stopping to see if I can get to some kind of menu on the printer to then remove the cartridge but the printer would stop when powered on with error message and head stuck to one side. Then I searched for a solution on Google and this turned out to be the perfect solution. I turned printer on and as head moved out for the initial start up I pulled the power off. Then I could replace the cartridge correct way and all is going well again. Thank you very much. It saved me the printer.

Thanks Jeff, had the B504 code on Maxify 2760, which is automatic shut down to protect print head from overheating from lack of ink. The cartridge was empty but the printer still showed full. I replaced all cartridges which was much cheaper than a new printer. Your description on removing the cartridges was precise spot on. Thank you so very much. Saved me $$$.

It's designed so you don't pour ink on your carpet by removing a cartridge that has ink still in it.

Wow....after about 1 month trying to deal with my black in on my MB5420 having a ? by the ink, I was finally able to remove the black ink and put in a new one. My printer now is good as new!!

Thanks for the detailed video. Don't understand why they made it so difficult to change cartridges in the printer. Why not include an option on the LCD menu. This video should help with my mb5460 printer, will try later today.

For me an option on the menu would not have worked either because I put incorrect colour cartridge and printer would stop with an error code on the panel which I could not get over. The head was stuck on one side and menu was stuck on the error code. This video was perfect to get out of the situation.

Hey i figured out that the second white gear on the left inside from front to back if you crank it toward you it unlocks the cartridge panel so your free to move it without unplugging it and you dont have to remove anything just find the lever underplastic on top where he shows you i have a mb2720 you either push it up or down get in there and be gentle and dont be scared

3 questions I have:1stay how do u remove that black panel above the cartridges,2ndly will the print head move even more to the left after replacing the yellow cartridge to replace all the other colours and finally,is there anything you have to do,like print head cleaning,to get the new cartridges "recognized" by the machine and or "bled" ,to be able to start printing???Thanx

Could find everything but when you said pull the cartridges forward, it will only pull out as far as 2 edges of the cartridges, Don't want to break anything but where you show your hand I can't make it pull

You need to watch closely, once the cartridge pops out, just remove it.
