Thanks for the tutorial. I guess my injectors are overdue for service. My 2003 C5 has about 160,000 miles and the injectors have never been touched. So far, I don't see any issues with the engine. It idles glass smooth and pulls hard to redline during WOT. When I took the old spark plugs out, I took a close look at them to see if any of the cylinders are having any issues. All was ok.

I'd recommend removing the plastic cap on the end of the fuel rail and pressing the schrader valve to release any fuel pressure before just pulling the hoses. I think the pressure drops away after a certain time when engine isn't running but at least you know you're not going to spray gas everywhere. I'd personally remove the gas tank cap too. I'm working on a C5 just now but looking forward to the possibility you'll get a C4 to work on Chris. Keep up the good work1

Great video. Before using the disconnect tool to remove the hose, is there something I should do to release fuel pressure? thanks.

Good job Chris. You make this look so easy filled with information & tips. This is so much easier to do than on an L-98 engine. I had to buy a new block on my 1987 so went ahead with all new internals starting from the oil pan on up with a brand new 350 block. I only used the intake manifold, runner's & plenum from the original. But only after port matching the heads to the runner's and the plenum. Enlarged of course and polished as well. Went from the stock size 19 lb. injectors to 24 lbs. and had the ECM tuned to match all of the modifications. All parts were from Summit Racing.

As you did this video, did you mention whether or not you should number the injections by cylinder or not? Just wondered if it was necessary. Thanks
@Brittlespeed4 жыл бұрын
Not required unless you are trouble shooting a misfire, dead cylinder or something related.
@mycorvettelife4 жыл бұрын
👆correct. Theoretically, they should all work the same so it wouldn’t matter.

Question. Before doing this should you pull the FP relay/fuse and run it till it stalls to get pressure out of the rail? Or is the pressure not too bad?
@whstato0212 Жыл бұрын
i would do it whenever messing with the fuel system.

I have a 98 c5 just like you and im having fuel pressure issues. I checked the fuel pressure with a gauge at the valve on the rails and it goes up to 50 ish psi and drops to 0 a few secs later do you know what could be the issue?
@Vincevega17203 жыл бұрын
Is the small plastic spacer on the intake side of the injector necessary? I just did my o rings and they were all brittle and broke off. I have a ls6 with the same injectors.
@mycorvettelife3 жыл бұрын
Idk about necessary but they hold the o-ring in place.

I have the same fuel rail as you. But I'm not sure if I have a fuel dampner or a regulator?since mine was missing when I bought my intake.I noticed you have a vacuum hose on yours and others don't. What's the difference?
@mycorvettelife4 жыл бұрын
No idea. Someone modified it and added the vacuum hose. It’s not necessary.

what’s the diference between the fuel rails that only has 1 line instead of the 2 like yours
@mycorvettelife4 жыл бұрын
Early C5s have the (2) for supply and return. The later C5s have (1) that does both.

Nope! just loosen the rails. it's a bit of a squeeze, but you can do it.

Chris by any chance did you depressurize the fuel tank by loosening the gas cap?
@mycorvettelife4 жыл бұрын
No I didn’t. I don’t think pressure in the tank would make its way all the way to the fuel rail. It would have to go through the fuel pump and fuel filter.

What color is the fluid? Dexcool Coolant is orange. I don’t know your area so I can’t recommend a shop. You can always ask the local Corvette Clubs were they get services.
