I personally would never attempt that myself, but still get very informative and useful. Sort of a C5 anatomy class.

Good grief Charlie Brown! Chris, I just watched this. All I can say is, you da man. This is something I'm not even going to attemp. When the time comes it's going to the vette specialist here in Gainesville. Learned so much from you. Did enjoy the video.

Just wrap some tape around the rear two bolts so they don't slide back down. And the intake will come right off.

Guys I'm here to save anyone watching this video a ton of work. I am having to replace my ac compressor and while looking at everything I see the passenger side motor mount staring at me, 1998 150k miles mounts appear original so I'm like well while I got the compressor out might as well replace the motor mounts. Most of the stuff done in this video is not needed. 1. Jack up car at least the front end enough so you can get to the exhaust manifold bottom flange nuts. 2. Remove the three bottom exhaust manifold nuts from both sides 3. Remove bottom motor mount nuts while you are under there 4. Lower car but make sure you have a jack under the motor to support it/jack it up slightly if needed 5. Remove alternator 6. Remove both exhaust manifolds 7. Take the three bolts and the stud out of the ac compressor so you can move it around 8. Remove the two top nuts from both motor mounts 9. Jack motor ever so slightly to remove pressure from the motor mounts 10. Remove bolts from motor mount brackets to the block both sides 11. Remove both motor mounts and mount to block brackets 12. Reverse the above. No need to mess with intake manifold or any suspension components or the subframe ect. Like a 1.5 hour job....

I recently acquired a c5 so this is all new to me. I had a c3 pretty much nothing I couldn’t fix. Can you just drop the engine cradle to change the mounts?
@mycorvettelife4 жыл бұрын
You need to raise the engine off the cradle.

Hey I have an aggressive cam in my C5 and the motor shakes just like yours in the beginning on the video. Did the new OEM mounts make a difference?
@mycorvettelife3 жыл бұрын
No
@peterb4143 Жыл бұрын
@@mycorvettelife that’s a shame, I went with Hinson polyurethane mounts back in November and mine shook real bad before, the oem mounts seemed almost new which was a surprise but with the new poly mounts no shaking at all, even with my aggressive idle. I went the route of removing the headers off the car and pulling them out from the top, seemed much easier than lowering the frame.

I know I've asked this before and you supplied it..but I was dumb and didn't write it down, now I can't find the video again to copy the info. Could you tell me your wide body and tire rim and breaks setup again? I want to put those on my 02 C5

For sure I would have done the oil pressure sending unit relocation and cleaned out the AC condensation drain tube
@smitty29192 жыл бұрын
I feel like it would have been easier to jack the car up and support on fr/rr cradles, remove/unbolt headers from block to gain room and simply support motor with a jack. Keeps you from removing all of your front suspension and then needing alignment. Or a MUCH easier approach I found is here for anyone reading this (not my video): kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZK9aaitnJ16i9k

Chris, why remove the fuel rail? My intake comes off without pulling the rail, with no problem.
@mycorvettelife4 жыл бұрын
I suppose you don’t “need” to, just undo the fuel lines.

I need to change my A/C Compressor out in my '99 as it leaks freon out of the body of the compressor. I saw a video here on You Tube where someone claimed they were able to just loosen the passenger side motor mount to jack the motor up enough to get the A/C Compressor out without pulling the water pump. Has anyone else attempted to do that on your C5? Just curious being I planned on doing this job during this cooler weather but have a few other things in the way as of the moment. I read on the Corvette Forum where others said they did the same. I am guessing before I even start the job that I can probably just loosen the bottom nut of the Passenger Side motor mount and stick a piece of 2x4 on a floor jack under the motor and lift it up enough to get the compressor out. Any thoughts by anyone? Being Chris was talking about motor mounts here I thought I would bring this up. Hope you don't mine Chris. Just gave you some thought for another Video. Don't know if you did one on replacing your A/C Compressor in a C5.
@qwikv63 жыл бұрын
im sure youve already done this by now but i was able to remove the compressor by removing the water pump and its pretty simple quick and easy. also i replaced the case orings on my compressor as it leaked there and its been fine ever since,
