wow , love your in depth how -to's videos my friend . Some people probably don't realize just how much goes into having a beautiful yard . i recently bought a poulan PP175G42 from a doctor friend of mine who only had it for about 5 months . his zero turn was giving him trouble and bought this from an estate sale that belonged to a very old man . the reason i just bought it , he has decided to move to another state and doesn't need it anymore . after cutting my yard , i noticed it didnt cut as good as my 4 wheel drive walk behind troy built mower . the left front and right rear tire both has a small hole in the side wall , he had been filling it up with air all this time , i did something kind of stupid , i put fix-a -flat in them to stop the slow leak . tire pressure counts when a well mowed lawn is wanted . then i cleaned it up really good and noticed the blades are really in need of replacing .they are in the worst shape i ever have seen and cannot be re-sharpen , not much blade left LOL . thats a costly job i have to do . then the dect only drops to the 2 and a half position . the deck needs to be worked on , i will get another adjuster for the other side . so i have to spend a few hundred to get it to cut good again , tires , deck work and def some new blades . it looks almost brand new , i got it dirt cheap for 300 dollars so maybe another 300 dollars wont be so bad to have a good riding mower . i also plan on doing full maintenance ,fuel and oil filter , oil change , a E3 special spark plug and a little shot of carburetor cleaner and a dash of marvel mystery oil in the gas tank . i am kindda regretting getting it in a way , i have a lot of obstacles in the yard , but the cutting in reverse hack i can scratch off my list , this i was told can be done by putting the key position in the 12 oclock position . i still will have to edge ,weed eat and use my push lawn mower to get to where poulan cant cut , , i will have to repair it and see if its worth the trouble to keep . i want to keep it , but i want my yard to look like professional landscapers do it !!!! LOL once repaired i know i could at least get a grand for it , i dunno , will have to consider it all one day .

Very clear. I went through 2 belts last week in a couple hours, so I was concerned that I bent something on the pulleys or deck. I wondered about how close the belt goes over the brake bar in the back but I see in your video that it is very close. The belts seemed to twist and wear abnormally and then break very quickly. The first belt I left it stored with it coiled up, so I think maybe that it why it twisted and wore abnormally. But the second belt, I opened it up and let it hang free overnight, but maybe that was not long enough?

Leaving the best curled up while storing it will not harm how the belt operates on the mower deck when installed. You have other issues.

@@JohnsonsSmallEngines I just got a new belt and put it on. With the blades engaged the bottom of the belt touches the Linkage Brake as it runs across the back from V pulley to V pulley. I don't see anything bent or grossly out of place. I have tried adjusting the Linkage Brake bar tighter but doesn't seem to help. Any suggestions?

Waspoppin Brad I'm Brendon I don't know why Poulan only put 1 adjuster hanger on your deck and that non adjuster hanger doesn't allow you to level your deck properly that's nonsense altogether. When you installed your adjuster hanger your deck was happy and she appreciated you

What is the part number for the rear mower deck hanger for the mower that you were working on plus what is the color of yellow is used on the front and back wheels and the mower deck

Try looking up the mulching part number by using the model number on the sticker under the seat. That should be the correct method on looking up parts.

Just subscribed. You are so right about deck height being too low. I can't even use my my Yard Machines (MTD) when my grass is growing fast in the summer; it removes too much grass & causes excessive clumping. Thus, I only use the tractor for fall leaves. That Poulan is an AYP product (Husqvarna) & good for AYP for offering an adjustable hanger. Do you know if MTD has such a replacement hanger? Have you ever added one on an MTD unit, like Troybilt, Cub Cadet, & some Craftsmans, etc.?

MTD are different and I haven’t come across a fix for that yet. What is your model number off of the sticker under the seat? I will check your model and see if there is anything on that model. Thank you for supporting the channel!

I've a cub cadet ltx1040 ( mtd) and mine suffers from this too. Its 10 years old and at its maximum height it's only cutting at 3 inches. I've watched a video by mower mike in which he shows that alot of times it's a bent hanger or deck bracket. He shows how to straighten them back out. I took my deck off and nothing seems bent or worn,so it didnt help me in my case,but if you wanna check his video out his channel is called mower mike and it's on fixing a saggy deck. It's a really cheap poor design. I'm glad they quit making them that way,but it's not helping me right now. It's a good old tractor otherwise.

I was watching this video as I've been interested in swapping decks on this exact mower. Since you have more experience in mowers than I do, do you think a swap for a 52 inch deck would run okay. Flat mowing, low grass, dry weather and no bagging assumed..

My guess is you have a large property? My concern would be one, would the 52 inch deck fit? I do not get into any swapping of different mower decks because in my past experience, it has been a nightmare from getting it to fit properly to the belt. As far as your question, would it be OK to use? I would say you may have an engine that is under powered if it’s not a twin cylinder? And the front suspension will get worn out much more quickly with a heavy deck. If you do swap it out and it works for you. Definitely keep the tire pressure up in the front and the front spindles greased on your axle and front wheels also. If you do swap it out, let me know how it is working for you. I am always curious to know how things work.
