I love watching your videos and have learned so much! I am a single woman and I do my own reno work around my house. But.... after being married to a man for 30 years who only fixed things on "his time " (which was NEVER if he could help it!), my FAVORITE part of your videos is when you say "... and we're goong to do it... RIGHT NOW." ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I'm thinking of doing this for the exact same reasons you cited. Our house was built in '66, so not quite as old. But it still has little to no insulation, ludicrous electrical shenanigans, and I don't even want to know what's been painted over in the decades before we bought it. Tearing out the drywall seems like the best way to fix all these problems at once. Plus it will let us add soundproofing where needed to make our home a bit more zen.

Hey love your videos!!! I went to a trade school in high school and we built 2 double wide trailers over my junior and senior year of high school.... I've really not done much carpentry or house remodelling but watching your videos really make me want to have a house to fix up if I had the money lol! I've watched pretty much all your videos but I love how you explain things and also how over built you build things if I was to build a house I think I would want your help lol. You definitely deserve a lot of success and can't wait to watch more of your videos!!!

Another great video. It's fun and interesting to watch the reno of your house. Look forward to them all the time. All the contractors I've used on projects in my home do not try to save the drywall, even if I asked them to. It doesn't pay for the time it takes. Plus, trying to get drywall out in prime condition is tough. I know from experience.

I cannot wait til the insulation video. Literally the only thing stopping me from beginning my renovations on my 120+ year old home I just bought. I want to rip the crappy vinyl off and restore the original wood clap. But haven’t found anyone good advice on insulation and weatherproofing. Most say tyvek and new siding or spray foam. Neither are an option for me. I’ve followed previous videos and cannot wait to start. I also need to figure out how to remove the chimney since it’s out of commission and a boiler heats the house. Other than that everything I need is right here on your channel. Thank you and keep up the good work!!!

I also live in Massachusetts, and my city inspectors are pretty strict. I’m wondering why your electrical inspector didn’t make you change that box with the high voltage and cable wires. We have to pull permits for everything, and they don’t let anything get by them.
@galady8632

I have been checking with the local Code Enforcement Officer re Policy & Procedures. The policy here is if the homeowner actually does the work no permit is required. Any time someone is hired to do the work a permit is required. A tiny corner of my lot is in the city limits so city policy trumps county, but both require inspections for hired work.. (I wasn't aware of all the red tape of a small city when I bought the house in 1985. If I had known I doubt I would have purchased that property.) New furnace, a/c, roof, gutters, exterior paint - all hired. No one wants to do interior work.

Before you just grip it and rip it. Always score the joint where the wall meets the ceiling. Will significantly decrease your chance of damaging the ceiling from having tear out.

Probably not intentional, but interesting juxtaposition of that very soft, almost melancholy background music with the action of ripping apart the walls that were once someone's dream room makeover. And oh man, I really hope you plan to insulate all those walls to sound dampen, so the master bedroom and this one don't have to hear each other ':D

How would you suggest taking drywall down in this situation? I don't plan on eating any I'll have a respirator on and I'll be fully covered. Is this something that you'd attempt to do? Or would you call professionals? There's just myself living in this house. Thank you!

I am renovating the upstairs of my house that I live in with my grandma. We don't even have drywall, it's just this old crappy press board stuff from the 70s and 3/4th of the walls have no insulation at all. I'm trying to explain to my grandma that we can't just put new drywall on top of the old press board and she just keeps arguing with me. She is going on vacation soon and she won't be there to argue lol. I'm taking it all down. In my case it's essentially a fire hazard at this point
