For those plastic push pins, best thing to do is to use flathead screwdriver to pry the head of the pin up, then itll come out easy. Or just break and get new lol. They sell them by the hundreds.

A little sloppy work but I understand the job I would be doing it myself real soon on someone's car. Thanks for showing me what I have to get in too.

It's not that hard to do, just a big piece of bumper to handle without help.

The author needs an auto clip / door panel removal tool (available for $5). I used that and had all the clips off in less than a minute. Also, the wheel well screws and nuts at the fender need a 7 mm socket. Overall a pretty easy job. You can have he bumper cover off in 5 minutes.
@unclemarksdiyauto Жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul. I have bought that tool since this video was posted a few years back. The right tool for the job makes it so easy & like you mentioned, many of these tools are pretty cheap.
@NHHalKnowsHow2 жыл бұрын
I can't believe you had so much trouble with those clips. You simply pull the center post back about half way with a screwdriver then slide the screwdriver under the entire clip and it slides right out. So easy.

Car has been on lots of gravel. Plastic seems sometimes to get gritty and stuck a little. Either way, I agree they are usually easy to install.

I have to replace that and my passenger side fender. Which should I start with?
@unclemarksdiyauto3 жыл бұрын
Don't take bumper completely off. Just undo whatever is bolted to fender including inner fender liner. Then remove headlight. Then fender. That would be my order of steps. Wish you well!

Fun was had by all. Thanks for showing me how. Now to the shop for paint and it'll look brand new. The only other problem with my 2013 Impala is when I touch the gas peddle I'm at the next stop light before most of the other cars are just getting going....still a lead foot at 60!!!

If your talking where bumper mounts to bottom of fender, a hardware store show have them. If it is the plastic black push pins, any automotive store, but I would take a sample with you.

How do you take the actual BUMPER off? Actual bumper absorber
@unclemarksdiyauto4 жыл бұрын
Not sure. I would imagine it is just 4 bolts holding it on after you take this off.

Question i have a Monte Carlo LS (2006) and i was removing the bumper and the junkyard i went to had a Chevy Impala LS bumper. Could i fit that on my Monte? Or it has to be the matching car?
@unclemarksdiyauto3 жыл бұрын
Headlights are hood are same part number on both cars. Bumper & fenders are different. Junk yard should be able to tell you for sure if bumper could fit. But I don’t know.

Pperhaps you should be watching how to videos instead of recording any. I'm surprised you didn't use a reciprocating saw It was frustrating to watch. Sorry to rant but I was hoping for a professional!

I appreciate your input Joe! If you try to take this apart and I edited out all the issues and problems I had, I honestly think you would be more frustrated as you proceeded to do the job yourself. (You may even have be mad that it looked easier than it will be) All the best either way Joe, I have learned much since this video. I have made about another 300 videos since this one, on various automotive subjects.

It is. Though I'm pretty much just doing it as a experience plus it would be nice to have it fixed so far I'm just watching videos on how to do it correctly so that way when I have all the parts it needs to look beautiful again and not some car that looks like I just salvaged from the junkyard
