Unfortunately my background music was a little too high at times and I didn't catch it. Fortunately, you can still get the gist of the tutorial and try for yourself. Thank you for watching.

Great tutorial, my recommendation would be to remove the background music especially when you're inside Audition, it does interfere with being able to hear the difference.

@@antpruitt Your awesome video leaves me wondering one thing. What is the danger in applying the FFT mic rumble to an ENTIRE voiceover track instead of seeking out the plosive segments. Does it lessen the parts that don't necessarily need it?
@antpruitt

No this is a selective adjustment. Otherwise, you can use the AI tools built into Adobe's "essential sound" tools.

TLDW: time-select plosive (T on keyboard for time-select tool), Effects > Filter and EQ > FFT Filter > Preset = "kill the mic rumble". However, this assumes your plosive registered on your mic in the sub-100 Hz region ... not a reliable assumption.

Is this why it didn't work for me? Everyone else says it worked. It barely did anything for me at all.
@ZenGeekDad
@ZenGeekDad 3 жыл бұрын
@@s.m.4198 Absolutely. If you toggle your main audio timeline away from the default amplitude (volume) plot, and to a frequency plot (to do this, double-click on the little group of tiny white dots on the middle of the border of this panel, at the bottom), ... then zoom in on the frequency range from zero to about 500 or so (mouse right-click + drag to select the frequency range you want to zoom to), ... you will see which frequencies were the loudest (the color map is like a fire's heat: brighter is louder). If your plosive (as miscaptured as a bomb sound by the mic) went significantly above 100 Hz, then you need to drag the keyframe on the Effect to your right, into slightly higher frequencies. It's a trade-off though, because the vocal range , especially for men, dips down towards 100 Hz, so the de-plosived audio sounds more tin-y the higher you set the keyframe cutoff.

Great video Ant. Quick question though - how would you recommend automating the removal of plosives from the entire length of an audio track? While the technique you demonstrated works great for the stray plosive, I feel it would take forever to trim them out from a considerably longer track and I am sure there is an easy way to save time and effort.

gotta agree with all the posts about backround music. Your doing an audio tutorial and the music is extraneous and not needed. Thanks for your tips though.

from Jeff...Thanks for this but very ESSY I am finding this is becoming a too common thing for video these days and it shouldn't really be that way I am having to turn my highs almost right down to be proper for me.

hey man, I'm a voiceover artist, I usually record between 10 - 15 mins audio files and it includes a lot of plosives, I've gone through each single one and it was so panful and time consuming ..... is there any way to remove all plosives automatically from the entire recording?

Not to my knowledge. Sorry about that. May want to change your mic angle to eliminate them. Do a few test runs of different mic positioning. For some, closer mic off axis helps

Well, what if it is a 2-hour stream. surely you won't fix it one at a time?

I wouldn't. That's just an example of why someone should monitor audio during recording to try to catch plosives early. Too bad if the whole thing was full of plosives. Thanks for watching 🤜🏾

I can't understand why you would have music in the background of a video where people are trying to hear the audio of your examples. At least for me, I can't hear your example at all.
