Nice tutorial! My favorite part was the quote you chose to repeat: "The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried." It makes learning Audition a bit more encouraging!

This has blown my mind! Thank you! I've attempted on many occasions to make my audio sound like butter in Audition from following YT tutorials, this is hands down the best one I've seen, awesome results. Thank you!

Thanks. Maybe I'm going crazy, but it almost sounds like this is meant to make your voice sound deeper, crisper and while I appreciate that it may make my voice have some depth, I don't speak that deeply. lol It makes male voices sound more intense and I think it kind of makes mine not sound like me. Playing with the EQ part really helped though.

Hi What mic are you using?
@pocoblossomasmr7014 жыл бұрын
It's basically a radio audio compression (or TV commercial). If you were hearing radio and it went to commercial the processed audio is what you expect to hear while driving in your car or whatever. It doesn't sound "better" but it definitely sounds like standardized "best practice" sound, albeit a bit over-the-top to drive home the point. In a crowded room or driving in your car, the processed sound will be much clearer and easier to hear and understand.
@Michaelwhitehayes7 жыл бұрын
Your narration skills are great, but I really question your EQ settings. I think your After is not really better than the before. I'd cut some of that low end and instead of a mid dip I'd play with a slight BOOST somewhere between 1K and 2K depending on your voice, for you probably down closer to 1K.
@tutvid7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Michael! You might be right about that. The lows are kicking a bit, probably too much. I love comments like this, we now know the tools and your input will be helpful in addition to what anybody can watch in the video. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, man! 🍻
@Michaelwhitehayes7 жыл бұрын
No prob. I think when you find that mid-freq boost point you'll find you won't need to apply the normalization process so much. I think the multi-pass noise reduction is a pretty good idea too, but you could probably apply more than 10dB reduction on the first pass, especially if you hug the noiseprint a little more.

@Sabamonster8 ай бұрын
This video by itself propelled me into being able to use Audition really, really effectively. After watching I spent hours with various samples (Using this as a baseline) while experimenting with different settings and effects. The ones I couldn't figure out, or didn't understand their purpose, I researched. Getting started in the audio space can be incredibly daunting, I had watched other videos and attempted to do the research on my own but there were a lot of cases where people simple started by more or less jumping into the deep end and using terminology that people new to it, simply don't understand. Can't thank you enough for putting this together with that in mind - I can effectively tune my audio to produce the exact results I want, remove sounds I don't want, clean it up, EQ it effectively ( Whether that's simply adding Roll-off's or Passes or adding punch into the low-end of a voice, etc.) and more or less do whatever I see fit with any audio file I'm given/record. Just wanted to say I appreciate it. Thank you.

Mine keeps evolving, but currently, its: 1) Increase volume by 4-6db (because I found cleanup plugins like louder sound) 2) noise reduction. (Waves) 3) De-Ssseer (sibilance) 4) second noise reduction (CLEAR) 5) decrease volume by 2-3db 6) EQ 7) Compress at -20 Thresh, 2.5:1 ratio, 3db knee, 0 attk, 40 releas 8) Volume adjust 9) limiter to -3 Everything is really small adjustments, so I preserve as much of the original sound, but get rid of things I don't want. Unfortunately, I have to manually de-Click with the Spectral editor, because i haven't found a good one that doesn't make the sound a bit synthetic. Mouth clicks are my bane, currently. I will give your chain a try. Always willing to try something new. :)

Great tutorial man! Thanks. I really wanted that overcompressed 80's CD loudness wars sound and I think I found it. I ended up with this favorite for my voiceovers: Amplitude and Compression->Single-band Compressor (-12dB?, 16x, 5ms, 50ms, 0dB) Filter and EQ->Parametric Equalizer->Loudness Maximizer-> 6dB@100Hz, 6dB@6000Hz Amplitude and Compression->Hard Limiter->Limit to -3dB Reverb->Reverb (700,10,1812,50) 95/5 dry/wet Amplitude and Compression->Normalize (-3dB)

I'm also confused by this. His audio generally sounds pretty good, and I was hoping to see how he processes it, but the example he gives sounds terrible and not at all like normal.
@cuisined6 жыл бұрын
99.9% of the time, it is the monitoring gear that fails to deliver the true and flat profile of the capture that leads the listener to failure in analyzing recognizing the true sound image. In short, replace your studio monitors or studio earphones for a better set. A good start is the Audio-Technica M-50x studio monitors.
@chrissnyder44396 жыл бұрын
So the fact that his audio typically sounds better, but just this one example sounds terrible, it's a failure of our equipment? No, try again. On a side note, I am listening to this through my M-50x's and everything else sounds just fine.

I could be wrong but I think the effect can be compounded. Applying noise reduction to a sound clip that has already been changed once, alters the audio even further. Hope this helps.

Great tutorial! However, once I'm finished and have hotkey'd the Favorite, I try it on a new audio recording, but the favorite only processes the first 9 seconds and not the entire recording. Thanks for this! One question - does the preset favorite then include the sampling of the background audio? Or do I need to sample the noise print myself BEFORE I run the process? Ideally I'd have a first step in the favorite where it takes a sample from the first three seconds of the clip but I'm not sure if that's possible.
