This video was a life saver. You won't believe how hard it is to find information on how to remove the back seats on a K1500. No one has a how to or walk through. Thank you many times over.

This is amazing! You're doing an invaluable service to all the people that want to be self sufficient and keep vehicles in great condition. THIS IS THE STANDARD FOR MAINTAINING A VEHICLE! Keep them coming, I'm working to restore a 92 Chevy Ext Silverado Manual transmission for my younger sister when she gets old enough to get a vehicle.

So far this has been the best and most detailed explanation to R&R the rear panels for a 1996 (etc) C1500 Silverado Extended cab. I've done it before ~15 years ago, so, I was looking for reassurance. Thanks.

@gabeulrickson24966 жыл бұрын
Matt McAvay exactly, I'd just forget taking the seats out, seems like the top panels would pry out far enough without the bottom out that you could slide a new set of speakers in there

just what i was looking for, I'm not doing anything with my speakers but thanks for putting that top piece of paneling back on to show how to take it back off, thats what i needed, now im inspired to take all the interior out and mold treat the sucker. headed back out to do the top paneling and back seat... i'll have to wait till i find the right tools for the seat belt bolt, i feel as though my tools are going to break trying to get that bolt off.

Thanks for the great video. You explained it so well and showing the rear seat removal...I feel comfortable that I could do a correct speaker replacement...however... since it's my work/hunting truck with over 277k miles...cutting a hole, changing the speaker and covering the hole with a grill will probably be my plan of attack.
@adolfocantusr.42802 жыл бұрын
I know it's been a while, but how did your plan work on cutting the hole? Did you go back with 4X6 speakers?

That's what I did to my 1994 k1500. I just put 6x9's back in and mounted them to the trim. Haven't had a problem with them yet years over a decade later.

This video was very helpful. Now I got to decide if I want to take a chance on going through all that work in order to replace the one blown speaker.I am kind of worried if I might break one of the panels that are plastic.I will give it a try and see what happens. If I did not see this video I would not even attempt to try and do this.One thing for sure I am going to go and purchase those special prying tools. Thanks for all the info.

Very informative video. It definitely helped me get my panels off. I can say that if your replacing the stock 4x6, it may not be worth it. Using higher end front speaker with adjust fade and a sub would be easier. In my case I am installing 6 1/2. I did some body work by enlarging the stock speaker hole to accommodate my larger speakers. Not a very difficult job though. Just time consuming. Once you remove one side the other side goes twice a fast.

My plastic trim definitely squeaks sometimes going down the road. fixing up those pieces definitely seem like a pain but would it be easy to just forgo putting them back on and covering everything by cutting foam and stretching leather over it? Secured with wing nuts into existing openings or just gluing it all down to eliminate the possibility of that happening again? Or do you recommend reusing the plastic?

I got all the paneling and seats pulled out, wish i had seen this video first it would have made things a whole lot easier. I Hope u will give me a few tips. I heard u say that u could build a speaker box along the back wall; could u give an example, and an example of the amp racks u can build on the sides?

If you are talking about those green spots on the passenger side being mold it is not. That is from your exhaust heating up the metal and discoloring the paint. Anyway thanks for the vid i needed to know how to do this for when I replace the speakers

I’m in the process of doing this but I started with an engine, have slowly fixed my AC, now my heater was working and now won’t blow air out the vents and the actuators are all new but aren’t turning. Thinking maybe wire issues. But was just involved in a hit and run and now my rear speaker is blown. So starting there gotta have my radio. I have a 1994 Chevrolet k1500 Silverado extended can, 5.7l 350 5 speed transmission.

So when u put an amp in that little hole do u just screw the amp to the metal or u build some type of box then stick it in

Does this process work for a 95 standard cab as well? I already replaced the head unit, would like to replace all 4 speakers in my truck as well. (my fronts are in the doors) Ive called 3 different audio shops in my area, and no installer will touch the rears because of the probability of the plastic trim pieces breaking. (not that Im TERRIBLY worried about it) I plan on using the same sizes as the the stocks.

How hard would it be to take your time & cut squares in the panels & replace them that way? I would think if the upgraded speakers looked cool & good enough & you cut the squares small @ 1st & slowly cut more to make the perfect Square, you wouldn't have to go through taking all the plastic panels out of the way! Any thoughts??

Can you get to the third brake light wiring from the inside? Looks like there are two holes where you might be able to grab it. My third light was removed to install a camper shell and I need the wire connection to install the third brake light on the camper shell. Chevy wants 58 dollars for the connection and online wants 36 dollars. Don't want to spend that much and don't want to take off the camper shell. Thanks

Why to much work and risky on breaking the old plastic panels and clips...I made a template for around the factory speaker grill took my RotoZip set the depth cut out a hole big enough to change out the speaker and simply screwed 2 5x8 speaker grills in place . And it looks sweet and only took 45 mins start to finish.
@ultra787216 жыл бұрын
I did not remove the panels ....got a dremel cut a hole just to get the speaker to come out ...put the new speaker in and covered the hole with the speaker cover that came with it ..i sprayed the grills grey to match the truck interior..not worth doing all this trouble especially when i know tabs will break
@TheLegend-cf3ew28 күн бұрын
Better taking everything apart than being LAZY and taking a dremel to cut up your truck. I’d rather take everything apart than start cutting holes in my truck because I’m lazy.

@@TheLegend-cf3ew The 4x6 blow out easy with todays head units. Im glad i cut mine , just made the hole a little bigger then what i previously did ,and installed a 6x9 ,way louder and crystal clear with many more options to go with . Plenty of people are doing this in the GM forums Community with plenty of pictures of how to do it With success... Lazy ? I don't think so. But to each his own....I assume if u want to keep it original then do what this video did. But i love clean loud music and the options for 4x6 are extremely limited !

dumb question, how did you get the seat belt for the front passagers out?
@ScottysDetailing7 жыл бұрын
J Arnold actually that's not a dumb question. there's a little round plastic plug with the line in it that needs to be removed then there is a T 35 torques bit that needs to be removed to take that seat belt out.
