Great Video. Yours is a tried and true method. But I've reworked decals on many RVs. So I'm mentioning some alternatives that work better for me. The erasers work, but are very labor intensive. My go-to method now is GraphXOff. Brush it on the decal. Wait 20-30 minutes and 90% of the decal will scrape right off with a plastic razor blade. Reapply, and 20 minutes later, the remainder will come right off. No heavy labor required. And it won't damage the Gel coat on a fiberglass wall or the front cap. As for applying the new decals, I prefer the "wet" method. Spray the back of the decal and the RV with a mix of Dawn dish soap and water. This will allow you to move it to the ideal location with no tape required. Squeege it in place and it will dry permanently.

Nice video. This is a huge issue for us with older RVs. A tip that some may want to try.. Use a heat gun. Use it very sparingly to warm the decal, then get an edge up and gently pull. Keeping the gun pointed away bring it back to warm the area ahead of where you are pulling. Too much will melt what you are pulling not enough makes it harder to pull. It's fun to get the right tempo. Hope this helps . Don

@@MountainBeaches I was thinking the same thing. I used to be an autobody repairman when I was young and it used to be common for station wagons to have wood grain vinyl along the sides and back. None of my coworkers wanted to replace the vinyl because it was expensive and easily damaged. What worked well for me was to use a small pail of warm water with one or two drops of dishwasher detergent. I would wet down the area and apply the vinyl, then I would wet the surface a little bit and use a rubber squeegee to work out the bubbles. It worked like a charm. BTW ... a great looking job!

My 14 year old stickers have been shot forever it seems. I can polish up the camper and it looks great... but for ratty stickers. They say that you need to wax the stickers a few times a month when the wax wears off when the stickers are exposed to the sun. This can be year round if you don't cover the camper in winter if you live up in Northern US. I plan to pull stickers off and leave them off this season... Really would like a solvent and just wipe it off but likely a bad idea... I have a 2008 Keystone Cougar 304 BHS with a 6 foot slide in back and a 12 foot slide across from the kit hen with couch and kitchen table.

@davidhenry75854 жыл бұрын
That’s just how they’ve always been made. Flats on a drill, or a mandrel like what you have in the video are a relatively new “thing”. Mostly began with the advent of cordless power tools. The kind you are describing have the advantage of being placed straight in the chuck more easily. Guess I’m dating myself 😉!

Never apply vinyl decals dry. Spray both the surface and decal with soapy water, float the decal to where you want it, then work the water out from under it from the center out. Same as window tinting. Then peel the top coat off.
@MountainBeaches3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip. Just curious as to why as I've had vinyl decals applied professionally to different things over the years and they've never done it that way.
@gpsjetskier3 жыл бұрын
Oh small ons are fine, but for large decals you'll get bubbles, placement is more difficult, and if applied in water you can lift it back up if needed. Truth is an application fluid like Rapid Tac is best, but soap and water works for most folks just fine. Just makes life easier and avoids any unforseen mishap.
@MountainBeaches3 жыл бұрын
@@gpsjetskier awe, gotcha. Thanks so much for the info
@captainmikek86952 жыл бұрын
@@MountainBeaches Professionals don't suck and do it every day. When the sticker is very expensive, they sure do use soapy water because it gives time for everything to be moved around a bit. Then you give it a few days to fully cure and run over it again for any stray bubbles. If you can't get a bubble out, the pros use a pin and let the air out and the glue inside makes it like it never happened...
