HOW WE RESTORED OUR FADED AND CRACKED RV VINYL DECALS RV makeover painting graphics, Painting over RV vinyl decals, RV Decal painting, can you paint over RV decals
The Decal on our 2000 Fleetwood Bounder were starting to show their age and had faded and cracked. Our first thought was to get the RV wrapped and after getting a price quote, we were shocked at the price. Next, we looked at replacing the decals and that was not much better and finally, we decided to just paint over them and give the old girl and new look. Today we are going to show you the steps that we took to paint over our Faded and cracked graphics (stripes) on our RV. This may look like a simple enough project, but when you own a 43 foot RV that has 4 different color graphics (stripes) this project can take a while.

It always used to amaze us how many folks in the rv community would tell people in online forums asking about doing this - that it couldn't be done or that it'd be a bad idea. The kicker?,... none of them had done it. That's often the case with many things. We've done this more than once wth good results. The paints they make now days seem to bond to just about anything and lay down easily. As for those asking about serious cracks; use a "high-fill" spray-can primer from the auto parts store and a scuffy pad or sanding block and go over it lightly, (very lightly),. Then hit it with a very light first coat.

Extremely skeptical when I saw the title. However, this came out amazingly!!!! I personally would not have thought about this myself, but this looks like a great way to start to change up the look of our 2005 Itasca verses dropping 17k on a complete full body paint job. Awesome, thanks for putting this out here shipmate. Beat Army!

Thanks for this…I’ve been taking a lot of old graphics off our 2004 Winny Siteseer…such a pain. I think I will try to replace with new vinyl graphics that I can order on some of these. But the big “swoops” it will be so much easier to try your method of paint. Have you tried the Krylon Fusion “all in one?” Still debating exactly which kind of paint to try.

First off thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. to answer your question; No, sorry we only moved them to get them filled. I made a bracket using 2 4x4 and notched them, install a cross brace with 2x4's and cut out a moon shape to match the curve of the bottle. I strapped all that to a wheeled cart so it was easier to move around. We don't travel with them any more as we sold them when we left washington state. (that was a year and and half ago)
