If you are looking to fix and clean up an old iPod in your collection, this is hands down one of the best methods out there to do so. Just a few minutes and some elbow grease makes these old worn shells shine like new!

It's absolutely nuts how well this worked.

The only strange thing is that there was a lot of black... stuff coming from the logo when I polished both my classic and my nano. My theory is that these things were so old that a bunch of grime had built up in the laser engraving. Either way, both the logo and the text are just fine.

You could save yourself a lot of product by using a smaller section of the cloth. It'll give you more working time instead of applying it and basically wiping it off immediately like this.

I use a cheap hand dremel with the buffing wheel makes it a faster process and gets a mirror finish I touch up my stainless Apple Watch every month or so and keeps it fresh out of the box looking

You probably only need two goes. First pass just to see how well it was working and then second time rubbing and going a bit deeper. But also wait a minute or two with the chemical on the surface to help oxidise the metal before buffing it off. You shouldn’t need to rub it off that hard either.

5000 & 7000 Wet & dry paper with a little water or olive oil followed by some green compound and a buffer wheel. Be scratch free and like a mirror

Thank you for your amazing video! Is there a buffer that you can recommend that I can use the same polish with a drill? I have an iPod classic 3rd generation that has a very hazy screen, I'm afraid to mess it up do you think I can use the same polish for the front?
@ThatDudeArvai
@ThatDudeArvai 10 ай бұрын
I would recommend finding a plastic polish for the front, as I think this polish would be to abrasive. As far as a buffer goes, a small Dremel with a buffing tool would work great for this. I was simply using what I had on hand.

Does it work for U2 iPod? I mean the signatures.
@ThatDudeArvai

I don't think it would ruin any of that as it's laser engraved just like the rest of the writing on back.

@@ThatDudeArvai Thanx. i tried it, with toothpaste, sandpaper grit 2000 and then 3M fine polish. So far i’m satisfied. An improvement of 80%. Signatures remain okay. Still some work to do.

$47? The polish is only $8.45 at this moment and is much easier than replacing the rear back case.
