Another easy to follow nail art tutorial showing you how to remove Shellac nails safely at home including the products needed. This technique is also perfect for showing you how to remove gel polish at home including how to remove gelish and how to remove gel nails. Please remember, it is always best to visit a trained professional for removal, but for when that really isn't possible, this video demonstrates the best way to do it at home using only Acetone, foil & cotton wool

Thank you! The governor just ordered all nail salons close in my state due to the coronavirus outbreak. This is going to save me from peeling my shellac off and ruining my nails in the process. Thank you!

You can use acetone remover. You leave wrapped for ten minutes, rub nail lightly before removal and remove foil. The shellac comes right off when you remove the foil. Its also healthier than pure acetone. I do it every time I take off my shellac.

I remember reading when I was a little girl to treat your nails as jewels not tools and it's always stuck with me! It's such a sweet saying. Unfortunately after years of being able to wear normal polish I no longer can! It doesn't matter what I do or how well I take care of my nails the polish comes off on it's own in sheets within hours of application... therefore Shellac is my hero :) Thanks for another great video.

I used a regular vanish remover and it worked. Thank you so much for making this video because I have always grown out my shellac and shorten my nails till it's all gone. I once went back to nail salon for a removal but they just hacked at my nails with a drill!!!! So now I wear my shellac for 3 weeks maximum and take a 3 week break then go back for a new set.

Would this work with shellac done at a nail place?
@NatashaLeeDivine
@NatashaLeeDivine 6 жыл бұрын
This method works with genuine shellac as the top coat isn’t acetone resistant. The method will work for all other gel polishes if you lightly buff the top coat off first then apply the cotton wool and foil so the acetone can penetrate the colour coat. Hope that helps ♥️

Does shellac damage your nails after? I got acrylics about two mons ago and then got them off and they were drilled with a file too much. I then put on my own fake nails and that damaged them even more. I have been using cuticle oil and nail strengthened and would like to get these for strength but don't want to damage my nails even more. If you could reply . A.S.A.P that would be great! Thanks!
@jimster805
@jimster805 8 жыл бұрын
well since no one is replying. i love shellac gels, they are soo easy to remove that i doubt there is any damage when soaking thing off properly. just make sure that when you get them done. make absolutely sure that the nail tech is using shellac base coat, shellac color of your choice and shellac top coat when applying. if the nail tech doesn't use at least one of those when they are doing your nails, then i can't promise you that your nails won't be damaged.

They aren't inherently damaging but what can be damaging is the removal, so as long as you follow these directions or go to a trusted salon you will be fine.

@NatashaLeeDivine
@NatashaLeeDivine 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, with time. Keep them well oiled with good quality cuticle oil (I have a video that shows you how to make your own) and you’ll have to look after them whilst you wait for them to grow out. As a rough idea, it on average takes 6 months for the nail to grow from cuticle area to your free edge (the end of your nail bed where the nail is attached) hope that helps ♥️

+Cid m Based on my experience of being a nail tech, I'd hazard a guess that you didn't have genuine CND Shellac (or similar professional brand) actually applied to your nails and that it was a copy. Genuine Shellac does not need the top coat buffing off and even on good quality brands with acetone resistant top coats (like Gel II and Gelish) they even lift off after 10 mins with acetone. It sounds like you've had a bad time with it, and I've experienced similar with clients coming it with cheaper versions of what they were told was actually applied 😢xxx
@jimster805
@jimster805 8 жыл бұрын
well you have to soak the gels with acetone, cotton, and wrap it with foil for 5-10 minutes and then they'll come off. if its not coming off with pure acetone super easily then its either the gels were applied too thick or you're not using pure shellac. ive used shellac base coat, 3 coats of shellac color, acrylic paint for design and 2 coats of shellac top coat and those lasted a month and took 10 minutes of just soaking to come off in pure acetone with cotton and foil

+Aga Majka Hi Aga, whilst acetone isn't harmful as such to the skin, it is very drying, so I would recommend trying to keep the acetone on the actual nail surface as much as possible and avoid the skin if you can. xNx

It works only if you lightly file the nail (only the polish of course, not the bare regrowth) with a 180 nail file. Just to 'break the seal', as they say. Then it comes off really easily. I don't know why she does not say it the video.
@WaldorfWannabe
@WaldorfWannabe 6 жыл бұрын
AnnaPxx if it’s real CND Shellac you don’t need to break the seal. But you do with other gel brands.
@AnnaPxx
@AnnaPxx 6 жыл бұрын
Laura, the first time I tried (without 'breaking the seal') it was a real CND Shellac, it took a long time and a LOT of scraping. Then saw a manicurist in a good beauty salon using the technique of 'breaking the seal', I tried it a home (again with a real CND Shellac) and it was so much easier! Also it reduces the nails' exposure to the acetone wrapping, the gel polish comes off really quickly with the help of a wooden stick and with hardly any scraping. Can't see the disadvantages of that system as far as you file only the painted surface, and very lightly, aiming just to take the gloss off, without scratching beyond the top coat and the upper layer of colour.

Then it can't have been genuine CND Shellac that was applied correctly by a professional. I do state in the video that you should always return to a professional to have it removed properly. Gel polishes remove differently to CND Shellac, which is a hybrid polish.

@@tessabutler7400 Cuticle is non-living tissue ie dead skin so it can't get ruined. Do you mean your proximal fold/eponychium? If so correct gel application and removal should not affect this. Whatever product you've had applied has either not been applied correctly, or you've not removed correctly. Either way, whatever state your nails or skin is in, is no fault of mine. Perhaps you are angry at yourself or your technician, and that's understandable that you want to lash out, but my video and removal technique is not at fault here so angle the blame elsewhere, please.
