How do you remove the top plastic part of the chair itself like the back rest?

I haven't tried that. I do see plastic tabs underneath, so it appears that the two pieces can be separated.

YANK AND PULL haha😂 I tried to press the tabs and remove it gently, that did not work, I put a foot on the seat and yabked the top part off. they are real durable tabs, I am sure there is some risk of it breaking but I had no success any other way. unfortunate they didnt make it easier. coulda used some sorta plastic screw or latch or similar. they did have a recall on these in like 2015 so maybe they are overcautious now.

Oh no!!! I wish I could show you. I got rid of the seat now that baby girl is older. The video shows how to pull the straps out of the back slits. No you're not dumb! I think they need to make it less complicated 🤔

I had to take a knife to the little slots for the two on the back, just to widen the hole a little bit. kinda silly how small they made them. the designers clearly dont use their own products.
