Good advice, but I did all that even with the extension bar and at the end, it snapped all 5 Lugnuts people that use an air impact in these tire shops need to be put in jail

Use the oxy/acetyl torch. It will come loose easily with no breakage.

@@jerrelhintergardt6898 we tried all that, and nothing worked at all. We had to cut off the rim and remove the knuckle with the brake caliper and rotor on it. When you need to turn the lug nut counterclockwise at 10 million psi, then you just have to cut off the rim

@@Ben-Hawy that's scary, I just broke an impact socket and a breaker bar. I'll try heat tomorrow, but this is definitely from them being put on with an air wrench. pisses me off, not the first time, between that and engineering things so we can't fix them.

I bought a 36" breaker bar and a set of Chromoly 500nm max tourque wheel sockets. I always undo the wheel nuts after a mechanic or tyre fitter has been near them. I apply some copper grease and tighten them to spec and check them on a regular basis.

Ya these breaker bars are powerful. Last week I tried to do my rear brakes on a smart fortwo - which uses 15mm Hex headed bolts as opposed to lug nuts. I didn't know it could be done but i snapped the damn head off a bolt. Of course I only figured this out after breaking it that it was a bolt. Should have lubed it - went caveman - learned my lesson.

Had one on the road that was hard. Put star wrench and jacked car up. Used weight of car to break it loose. Hardest one ever were lug bolts on. VW van. Be very careful but heat those with an oxy/acetyl cutting torch until cherry red. I guarantee it'll come loose.

Try to tighten the lug nut with an impact wrench then reverse wrench may break it loose... Also use a dead blow hammer hit the socket hoping to break it loose.

It didn't sound like the oil penetrated when it popped loose. The reason being, a tapered lug nut is like a flared fitting as on a hydraulic system. The tighter the nut, the more it seals. On that acorn nut no oil made it to the threads or into the flare.

Tapered lug nuts??? What the hell!? Why would they do that?? lol I am not mechanic and I have been having a hell of a time with mine. Specs say 19mm but that doesnt even go on half way. So Im picking up a 20mm tomorrow. Those folks really need to be punished for that kind of negligence!
